11. Summary of new results of the thesis
- Applying the Matrix model in supporting the treatment of methadone patients using ATS, on the current status of methadone patient treatment in the research area of District 4 and District 8, Ho Chi Minh City, the socio-demographic characteristics of the total patients being treated at 2 methadone clinics before selecting the intervention and control groups. The intervention results after 16 weeks showed that there were differences in effectiveness between the two groups, the control group and the intervention group in terms of substance use status, social behavior, perceived quality of life, motivation to quit drug addiction and especially increased adherence to treatment, all of which showed better results than the group that did not receive intervention. These results were continued to be monitored at 1 month and 3 months after intervention, showing that patients in the intervention group continued to maintain adherence to treatment as well as the status of using addictive substances, especially using ATS, all of which showed better results than the control group. From the above results, continue to discuss the application of the Matrix model in the research area and give discussions on the feasibility of widely deploying this model in the near future.
- In the process of implementing the intervention model, the Thesis shows that this model is particularly suitable and feasible for widespread implementation in Vietnam in supporting the treatment of ATS addiction in general and patients undergoing methadone treatment using ATS in particular. The application of group social work in the Matrix intervention model is very suitable in the current context of Vietnam. From that reality, the Thesis proposes the need to standardize the content of the Matrix program, so that this model can be applied in the future at drug rehabilitation facilities, facilities for treating addiction with Methadone replacement drugs... It is necessary to consider recruiting staff in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology... to train and improve the capacity of this staff to use the Matrix program in supporting addiction treatment. The Matrix model intervention program should integrate training in Universities for students majoring in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Preventive Medicine, and Public Health to improve the quality of human resources for addiction treatment in Vietnam in the coming time.
12. Practical applicability: Deploying the Matrix model in methadone facilities in general and in drug rehabilitation facilities in particular across the country.
13. Further research directions: Evaluate the effectiveness of the Matrix model in reducing and stopping the use of synthetic drugs in patients with ATS synthetic drug addiction.

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
- The thesis examines the application of the Matrix model in enhancing the treatment of methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) patients using ATS, and provides information on the current treatment status and demographic characteristics of MMT patients in the study area including MMT centers of District 4 and District 8 in Ho Chi Minh City before the intervention and control group selection phase. The results after 16 weeks show that there were differences between the two groups: the intervention group was found to have better results in terms of substance use status, social behavior, perceived life quality, motivation for quitting drugs, and adherence to treatment than the control group. These results were continued to be monitored at the periods of 1 month and 3 months after the intervention, showing that the patients in the intervention group continued to maintain their adherence to treatment and their status of using special substances, especially ATS better than those in the control group. Besides discussing the above results, the thesis continues to examine the application of the Matrix model in the study area and its considerations.
- Based on the process of implementing the intervention model, the thesis shows that this model was particularly suitable and feasible to be widely implemented in Vietnam in enhancing the treatment of ATS addiction in general and in supporting MMT patients using ATS in particular. The application of social work with groups in the Matrix intervention model is very suitable in the current context of Vietnam. Established on that fact, the thesis proposes the need to standardize the materials of the Matrix model, so that this model can be applied widely in the near future at drug addiction treatment facilities and MMT centers, the need to recruit more Social workers, Psychologist and Sociologist in the field, and the need to train and improve the competence of personnel so that they can apply the Matrix model in their work. Moreover, the thesis proposes that the Matrix intervention model should be integrated in the study curriculum of students majoring in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Preventive Medicine, and Public Health to elevate the quality of human resources in addiction treatment in Vietnam in the future.
12. Practical applicability: The implementation of the Matrix model in Methadone Maintenance Treatment facilities in general and in drug addiction treatment facilities in particular across the country.
13. Further research directions: Evaluation of the effectiveness of the Matrix model in reducing and preventing synthetic drug use among patients using Amphetamine-type Substances (ATS).
