11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis
- Applying the Matrix model to support the treatment of methadone patients using ATS, this study examines the current state of methadone treatment in District 4 and District 8 of Ho Chi Minh City, and the socio-demographic characteristics of the overall patient population at the two methadone clinics before selecting the intervention and control groups. The intervention results after 16 weeks showed significant differences between the control and intervention groups in terms of substance use, social behavior, perceived quality of life, motivation to quit, and especially improved treatment adherence, all of which were better than the non-intervention group. These results were further followed at 1 month and 3 months after intervention, showing that patients in the intervention group maintained better treatment adherence and substance use, particularly ATS use, compared to the control group. Based on the above results, further discussion will focus on the application of the Matrix model in the study area and the feasibility of widely implementing this model in the future.
- During the implementation of the intervention model, the thesis points out that this model is particularly suitable and feasible for widespread implementation in Vietnam in supporting the treatment of ATS addiction in general and for patients undergoing methadone treatment who use ATS in particular. The application of group social work in the Matrix intervention model is highly appropriate in the current context of Vietnam. Based on this reality, the thesis proposes the necessity of standardizing the content of the Matrix program so that this model can be applied in the future at drug rehabilitation centers, methadone replacement therapy centers, etc. It is necessary to consider recruiting social workers, psychologists, sociologists, etc., to train and enhance their capacity to use the Matrix program in supporting addiction treatment. The Matrix-based intervention program should integrate training in universities for students majoring in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Preventive Medicine, and Public Health to improve the quality of human resources for addiction treatment in Vietnam in the future.
12. Practical applications: Implementing the Matrix model in methadone treatment facilities in general and in drug rehabilitation centers in particular throughout the country.
13. Further research directions: Evaluating the effectiveness of the Matrix model in reducing and stopping the use of synthetic drugs in patients addicted to ATS (Advanced Triglycerides).

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
- The thesis examines the application of the Matrix model in enhancing the treatment of methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) patients using ATS, and provides information on the current treatment status and demographic characteristics of MMT patients in the study area including MMT centers of District 4 and District 8 in Ho Chi Minh City before the intervention and control group selection phase. The results after 16 weeks show that there were differences between the two groups: the intervention group was found to have better results in terms of substance use status, social behavior, perceived life quality, motivation for quitting drugs, and adherence to treatment than the control group. These results were continued to be monitored at the periods of 1 month and 3 months after the intervention, showing that the patients in the intervention group continued to maintain their adherence to treatment and their status of using special substances, especially ATS better than those in the control group. Besides discussing the above results, the thesis continues to examine the application of the Matrix model in the study area and its considerations.
- Based on the process of implementing the intervention model, the thesis shows that this model was particularly suitable and feasible to be widely implemented in Vietnam in enhancing the treatment of ATS addiction in general and in supporting MMT patients using ATS in particular. The application of social work with groups in the Matrix intervention model is very suitable in the current context of Vietnam. Established on that fact, the thesis proposes the need to standardize the materials of the Matrix model, so that this model can be applied widely in the near future at drug addiction treatment facilities and MMT centers, the need to recruit more Social workers, Psychologist and Sociologist in the field, and the need to train and improve the competence of personnel so that they can apply the Matrix model in their work. Moreover, the thesis proposes that the Matrix intervention model should be integrated in the study curriculum of students majoring in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Preventive Medicine, and Public Health to elevate the quality of human resources in addiction treatment in Vietnam in the future.
12. Practical applicability: The implementation of the Matrix model in Methadone Maintenance Treatment facilities in general and in drug addiction treatment facilities in particular across the country.
13. Further research directions: Evaluation of the effectiveness of the Matrix model in reducing and preventing synthetic drug use among patients using Amphetamine-type Substances (ATS).
