  • This provides an overview of the research situation related to vocabulary in the West, China, and Vietnam.
  • Establishing a basic theoretical framework to support survey and statistical work;
  • Essentially, a relatively thorough and scientific survey of the vocabulary provided in textbooks has been conducted across seven specific aspects;
  • Compare and identify the advantages of current Vietnamese language textbooks, as well as the shortcomings and limitations that need to be addressed;
  • To offer valuable suggestions and recommendations for revising and improving the quality of current Vietnamese language teaching textbooks;
  • Proposed list of commonly used words (4000 words) for the basic (beginner, intermediate) level, selected in decreasing order of frequency from the thesis's corpus.

The research findings and recommendations of this thesis will help future textbook authors effectively overcome current limitations and develop more suitable and comprehensive textbooks.

- Expand the scope of the survey, for example, to survey all textbooks that have been and are currently being used in China;
- Expand the scope and subjects of research, for example, not only at the basic level but also at the intermediate and advanced levels.
