3.1. Main results

- Building a theoretical basis for the thesis: theoretical basis of communication competence, communication grammar and teaching communication grammar, second language acquisition theory, speech act theory, Vietnamese speech acts, teaching Vietnamese speech acts from the perspective of communication grammar

- Survey on the presentation and teaching of expressive means of HDCK in grammar, conversation and practice of skills and comments

- Propose a pilot design for the grammar content of Vietnamese conversational activities according to communication purposes, based on surveyed materials and illustrated by a specific grammar teaching process combined with practical testing.

3.2. Conclusion

From studies on foreign language teaching theory, on speech acts, and HĐCK, we realize the need to establish a separate, correct viewpoint when teaching Vietnamese grammar as a foreign language - a separate scientific field of applied linguistics in Vietnamese linguistics. Communicative grammar should not be understood as a separate linguistic concept but as a new perspective on grammar education in terms of serving communication, aiming to improve the communication ability of foreign language learners.

- Surveying presence and teaching of means of expressing the directive acts in the grammar section, the conversation section and the practice of skills section and assessment.

- Proposing design of the grammatical content of the Vietnamese directive acts for the purpose of communication, based on the materials surveyed and illustrated by a specific grammatical teaching process combining practical implementation.

3.2. Conclusions

From the researches on the theory of foreign language teaching, of speech acts, directive acts, we find the need to establish a correct viewpoint on teaching Vietnamese grammar as a foreign language – the linguistic science of linguistics application in Vietnamese linguistics. Communicative grammar should not be interpreted as a separate language but rather a new perspective on grammatical education in terms of communication, in order to improve the communicative competence of second language learners.
