Students from 9 basic science majors at VNU-USSH receive scholarships from partners of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

On the morning of March 12, 2024, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the DB Kim Jun Ki Cultural Foundation (South Korea), Vietnam Aviation Insurance Corporation (VNI), and KFHI Vietnam awarded 72 scholarships to students in basic science majors at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences, both under Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Each scholarship is worth 5 million VND, with a total value of 360 million VND sponsored in this round.

Attending the scholarship awarding ceremony on behalf of Vietnam National University, Hanoi were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Tu (Chairperson of the Management Board and Director of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Development Fund); Dr. Tran Kien (Deputy Director of the Fund) and representatives from several functional departments of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Regarding the sponsors, there was Mr. Pham Quang Trinh (Representative of the DB Kim Jun Ki Cultural Foundation, South Korea) and Mr. Ngo Hong Khoa (Deputy General Director, Vietnam Aviation Insurance Corporation).
Representing the two beneficiary units were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Party Secretary, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Ms. Pham Thi Le Thuy (Deputy Head of the Political and Student Affairs Department, University of Science), and representatives from several departments and units of both universities.
Speaking at the scholarship awarding ceremony, Associate Professor Tran Thanh Tu emphasized: Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) is ranked among the top universities in Vietnam globally, an achievement largely due to the contributions of its scientists, lecturers, and students in the field of basic sciences. This is a unique characteristic that sets VNU apart from other training institutions nationwide. Therefore, in its development strategy, the VNU leadership always prioritizes, maintains, and develops basic science disciplines, with a particular focus on investing in both teachers and students. In realizing this strategy, VNU has consistently received cooperation and support from domestic and international corporations and businesses through practical and effective investments and assistance. Today's scholarship awarding ceremony is a testament to this effective collaboration.

Associate Professor Tran Thanh Tu emphasized the significance of the scholarships and support for students studying basic science at the two member universities of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Representing the two units whose students received scholarships, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) expressed his deep gratitude to the Board of Directors of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and the Executive Board of the VNU Development Fund for their continued attention and support to the member units training students in basic science disciplines, namely the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences. Over the past period, VNU has not only provided significant support from the state budget but also strengthened cooperation with corporations, businesses, and organizations both domestically and internationally to secure more valuable scholarships, internship opportunities, practical training, and employment for students.

Principal Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his hope to receive the support and cooperation of various units in the school's activities in the future.
Rector Hoang Anh Tuan further shared: In the context of many changes in higher education, with fierce competition and numerous difficulties in student recruitment and training, the University remains steadfast in its goal: maintaining and developing training in basic sciences, affirming its position as a leading institution in the field of social sciences and humanities nationwide, and reaching regional and global levels. We sincerely thank our sponsors for their continuous support and for giving our students meaningful gifts, recognizing, encouraging, and motivating them to continue pursuing their favorite fields. The scholarship awarding ceremony also opens up opportunities for us to collaborate with new partners in future training and research activities.
Also at the scholarship awarding ceremony, Mr. Ngo Hong Khoa (Deputy General Director of VNI), representing the sponsoring units, highly appreciated the position and achievements of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNI) in training, scientific research, and serving society. He noted that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences are two core units of VNI, holding leading positions nationwide in training in basic sciences. He shared: “Supporting students is a consistent policy of the Corporation's leadership. Awarding scholarships to university students is one of the activities that the corporation's leadership pays special attention to. We are honored to contribute to the training of high-quality human resources for the country, especially in basic sciences. We hope that this small gift will be a timely encouragement to help students strive for even better achievements in their studies and scientific research.”

Leaders from sponsoring organizations attended the scholarship awarding ceremony for the students.
Nguyen Que Anh (a fourth-year student majoring in Religious Studies), on behalf of the 72 scholarship recipients, emotionally expressed her deep gratitude to Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the sponsoring organizations for awarding these invaluable scholarships. She stated that these scholarships are not only a reward for their academic efforts but also a great source of encouragement, providing them with the opportunity to continue their studies, training, and self-improvement.
On behalf of all the scholarship recipients, I would like to express my gratitude to the University, the faculty members of the Departments/Faculties, and the staff of the functional offices who have supported and accompanied us, creating all the conditions to help us achieve excellent academic and personal development results, thus deserving this scholarship and many other academic support grants. We hope that this meaningful activity will continue to expand so that many more students can receive the same joy and honor as we have today.

Do Van Hung (a second-year History student) shared: "I am very happy and honored to receive this scholarship, as it will give me more motivation to continue pursuing my favorite field of History. I also want to tell my fellow students that USSH Media students always have the opportunity to receive many different types of scholarships, especially if you are a student in basic science majors, as long as you have good academic results and actively participate in student union activities and volunteer work to serve the community."

At the ceremony, representatives from VNU-USSH, the sponsoring unit, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the University of Natural Sciences awarded scholarships and presented flowers to congratulate students from 18 basic science majors at the two universities. To encourage and motivate students to study diligently, train, and conduct scientific research, for many years, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has collaborated with numerous domestic and international organizations and individuals to develop and effectively implement scholarship programs to support students. In the 2022-2023 academic year, the University awarded 45 Talent Attraction scholarships to students in 9 basic majors (worth up to 50 million VND/year/student); and 210 scholarships, totaling nearly 1 billion VND, from various agencies, organizations, and businesses (Vingroup, SHB, Danko, KOVA, AEON, LG, Lotte, Dao Minh Quang Foundation, Samsung Scholarship, SJ Tech (Korea), Sumitomo, Yamaha, Mitsubishi (Japan), KAS Foundation (Germany), etc.).
For the 2023-2024 academic year, through the VNU Development Fund, students of the University are honored to receive additional scholarships from VNU's new partners: the DB Kim Jun Ki Cultural Foundation, South Korea, Vietnam Aviation Insurance Corporation (VNI), and KFHI Vietnam.
