Students from 9 basic science majors at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will receive Talent Attraction scholarships from the 2022-2023 academic year.

On August 12, 2022, the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities signed Decision 2200/QD-XHNV on promulgating the Regulations on criteria and procedures for considering scholarships to attract talents for basic science majors from the QH-2022-X course.
On July 7, 2022, the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi issued Decision No. 2278/QD-VNU, stipulating that from the 2022-2023 academic year, Vietnam National University, Hanoi will begin piloting scholarships for students in 9 basic science majors of the University of Natural Sciences and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. At the same time, the two schools are assigned to take the initiative in proposing criteria, number of scholarships, and specific plans for considering and awarding scholarships annually.
In order to implement the above policy, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has issued Regulations on criteria for considering the Talent Attraction Scholarship for basic sciences (referred to as Talent Attraction Scholarship).

About the subject

Accordingly, all students in the regular university system from the QH-2022-X course, during the standard training period, in 9 basic science majors, including: Literature, History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Political Science, Anthropology, Vietnamese Studies, Linguistics, and Han Nom are eligible for consideration if they meet the following specific criteria:
- For first-year students: based on the criteria of admission results in the school entrance exam in all methods and good conduct, good academic results of 3 years of high school.
- For students from semester II of the first year onwards: based on the academic results of the scholarship review period and meeting the minimum number of credits completed in the scholarship review period.

About the scholarship

In addition to receiving a scholarship equal to the tuition fee prescribed for each academic year; students receiving the scholarship are also supported with a living allowance of VND 2,000,000/month (two million VND/month); are given priority in arranging accommodation in the dormitory (free of charge). In addition, students who have received the Talent Attraction scholarship are also given priority in considering and receiving other scholarships with higher support levels if they meet the requirements; are assigned a sponsoring scientist, participate in scientific research, and experiential activities throughout the course.

About the target

Each major has a minimum of 05 students/course/major. The number of annual slots will be decided by the Principal depending on the quantity and quality of applications.

About the Scholarship Review Process

- For first year semester 1 students:
After registering for admission, students submit their application for the Talent Attraction Scholarship to the Center for Human Resource Forecasting and Development, Vietnam National University, Hanoi according to regulations online (paper copy submitted after being admitted and enrolled).
The profile includes:
+ Application form (with commitment to study until the end of the course, maximum 4 years with confirmation from family and local authorities. If the student does not complete the training period, he/she will have to return the received funds, special cases will be decided by the Board of Directors).
+ CV, achievement statement (according to form).
+ Essay on the major you are studying, including your thoughts, study plan, and future orientation (handwritten, limited to 1,500-2,000 words).
+ Letter of recommendation from high school teacher or lecturer (if any).
+ Other priority documents (certificates of merit, policy families, poor households, foreign language certificates, certificates of participation in mass activities, social activities).
- For students from semester 2 of first year onwards:
Based on the list of students who were considered for scholarships in the previous semester, the students' academic and training results at the scholarship consideration period, the School continues to consider and grant scholarships to students who meet the requirements according to regulations.
