Main research directions
• Research the history of ideology, culture, society, and Vietnamese people; clarify the characteristics and features of Vietnamese culture, society, religion - belief, political institutions, and state model.
• Clarifying the model and specific development path of Vietnam; favorable conditions, opportunities and challenges for Vietnam on the development path; thereby proposing the philosophy, doctrine and development model of Vietnam in relation and comparison with other countries. Taking the lead in performing well the function of Philosophy is: "Researching theory, summarizing practice, forecasting development trends, providing arguments for building guidelines and policies for national development in the new period".
• Research the characteristics of current Vietnamese society; the transition from an agricultural society to an industrialized society; changes in social structure, the emergence of new social groups and forces.
• Research changes in concepts, ethical values, aesthetics, traditional culture and the formation of new values ​​as well as the need to build and orient new values ​​to develop as a foundation for the thinking and actions of the whole society.
• Research and propose solutions to preserve and promote the cultural identity and beliefs of ethnic groups living in the Northwest, Central Highlands, and Southwest regions.
Typical topics and projects being implemented
• Religion, belief and personal life: Promoting the role of religion and belief in moral education, personality formation and lifestyle of Vietnamese people today, by Nafosted, Ministry of Science and Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Hung chaired.
• Human ecology from the perspective of Marxist philosophy, National University Level Project. Dr. Pham Thanh Ha chaired.
• The role of ethics in preventing the degeneration of leaders and managers in Vietnam today, National University level topic. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong chaired.
