History of formation

  • In 1991, the Faculty of Sociology - Psychology was established by the decision of the Minister of Education and Training.
  • In 1997, the Director of Hanoi National University decided to separate the Faculty of Sociology - Psychology into two faculties: Faculty of Sociology and Faculty of Psychology.
  • Since 2006, in addition to training in Sociology, the Faculty is one of the first institutions in the country to train in Social Work.

Mission

Take the lead in training high-quality, creative human resources, disseminating deep and broad knowledge and skills in sociology and social work, contributing to timely serving the cause of national construction and development.

Outstanding achievements

With a team of high-quality staff including 01 Professor, 07 Associate Professors, 07 PhDs, 11 PhD students and 3 Masters (2017), the Faculty has achieved many achievements in the following areas of activities:

Currently, with a team of high-quality staff including 04 Associate Professors, 12 PhDs, 5 Masters, 1 Bachelor, the Faculty has achieved many achievements in the following areas of activities:
• Regarding training: Every year, the Faculty trains about 150 bachelors, 40 masters, 20 PhD students in two majors (Sociology and Social Work), as well as coordinates with a number of ministries, departments and branches to organize many short-term training courses to supplement knowledge in Sociology and Social Work.
• Regarding scientific research: 100% of the Faculty's staff have experience in presiding over and participating in scientific research projects at all levels and in domestic and international research cooperation projects. Every year, the Faculty's staff publishes an average of 10 ISI/Scopus articles, 20 articles in scientific journals and national and international conference proceedings. On average, each year, the Faculty's staff also presides over and participates in 5 grassroots-level projects, 3 national university-level projects, 3 state-level projects and many domestic and international projects related to the majors of Sociology and Social Work.
• Regarding international cooperation: the international cooperation relationship between the Faculty and partners from universities in Japan, France, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, the US, Australia, etc. is always maintained and brings many cooperative products such as: Master of Applied Sociology training program, Master of Social Work training program, international conference proceedings, books, scientific articles or community development services and international research projects.

  • Strengthen specialized training at the undergraduate level, develop training programs on basic research and applied research at the master's level.
  • Continue to promote scientific research, international cooperation and provision of social services.

  • Reform training programs towards updating and international integration.
