Elevating the cooperative relationship between VNU-USSH and leading universities in China.

From December 8th to 12th, 2024, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH), participated in a delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Kim Son, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam, on a working visit to China. The purpose of the trip was to promote educational exchange and cooperation between the two Ministries and to foster collaboration between universities in the two countries.
At the headquarters of the Chinese Ministry of Education in Beijing, Minister Nguyen Kim Son and his delegation held talks with Chinese Minister of Education Huai Jinbang. During the meeting, both sides assessed that, 15 years after the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Vietnam-China relations have developed to a new level, with significant achievements in all areas of cooperation. In particular, cooperation in education and training has been substantial, increasingly in-depth, and yielded outstanding results based on the strategic direction of the leaders of both countries in this field.

Later that afternoon, a Vietnam-China higher education cooperation seminar was held at Peking University, attended by leaders from both Ministries of Education, relevant departments and bureaus, and many leading universities from both countries. On this occasion, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi) signed cooperation agreements with Peking University and Beijing Foreign Studies University regarding training and research in social sciences and humanities, faculty and student exchange, and enhanced cooperation in Chinese and Vietnamese language training. For the 2024-2025 academic year, both Peking University and Beijing Foreign Studies University are sending Vietnamese language students to study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi.

The China-Vietnam Education Cooperation Seminar took place at Peking University on December 9, 2024.
 
Peking University is China's leading university and ranks 17th in the world according to the QS Rankings 2024. Its Vietnamese language program, part of the Foreign Language Institute, began offering undergraduate programs in 1949, making it the first university in China to offer a Vietnamese language major.

Beijing Foreign Studies University is one of China's most renowned universities for language and foreign language education. Its linguistics program is ranked 60th in the world according to the QS 2024 rankings, and the university has produced numerous diplomats and ambassadors for the People's Republic of China. Currently, the university offers 101 foreign language programs, including Vietnamese, which has been offered since 1961.
