In the process of innovation and international integration, building upon the long-standing tradition of research, training, and policy application in Ethnology, a branch of Anthropology has emerged and is continuously developing in Vietnam. It clearly demonstrates a Vietnamese identity while also sharing many similarities with anthropological traditions in many countries around the world.

Placing Anthropology in Vietnam within the context of Vietnamese history from the beginning of the 20th century and in interaction with anthropological traditions on a global scale, this bookAnthropology in Vietnam: Some Historical, Research, and Training IssuesThis is a collection of articles by more than 30 anthropologists from Vietnam, Japan, Canada, France, and China, clarifying three key aspects of the science of anthropology in Vietnam.

Firstly, this book takes readers back to the history of over 100 years of tradition in the science of human studies, to see the enormous and unique contributions of anthropologists such as Nguyen Van Huyen, Nguyen Duc Tu Chi, and the French Institute of Far Eastern Studies... to the formation and development of the field of Ethnology according to the French and Soviet traditions of Ethnology, as well as the transition from Ethnology to Anthropology in Vietnam during the decades of reform and international integration.

Secondly, another important aspect clarified by the book is the current state, problems, and research prospects of various disciplines within the field of Anthropology, such as Gender Anthropology, Literary Anthropology, Ecological Anthropology, Ethnological Anthropology, and research directions related to livelihoods, cultural heritage, etc., in Vietnam.

Thirdly, the book devotes a significant portion to analyzing the current state of anthropology training and teaching, identifying difficulties and challenges, and discussing solutions to promote and improve the quality of anthropology training in a way that better meets societal needs and international integration.

By attending this book seminar, readers will have the opportunity to listen to and exchange ideas with Vietnamese and international anthropologists not only about the book's content but also about the field of anthropology in Vietnam, from traditional to modern times, and from the perspective of insiders as well as outsiders.
