Newton Fund: Invitation to apply for the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Exchange Program.

Within the framework of the Newton Fund Vietnam, the British Embassy has issued the fourth call for applications for the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Exchange Program (2017) between Vietnamese and UK scientists, implemented by the British Academy.
  • Target:

- Enhancing research capabilities for Vietnamese scientists, contributing to Vietnam's socio-economic development.

- Establish long-term research cooperation between Vietnam and the United Kingdom.

  • Object:Vietnamese and UK scientistsalready has a PhD.
  • Sponsorship:The British Academy will provide funding of up to £10,000 per year for collaborative research.
  • Phapplication submission methodApplications will be submitted online by Vietnamese scientists to the British Academy through the system.eGap.
  • Application deadline: March 15, 2017, 5 PM (UK time).

Newton Fund

The Newton Fund collaborates with 16 countries to strengthen research capacity, innovation, and support socio-economic development in these countries for sustainable development goals. The Fund has a total budget of £735 million from the UK Government and matching contributions from partner countries until 2021.

On the UK side, the Newton Fund is managed by the Department for Enterprise, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and directly implemented by 15 specialized organizations (Research Councils, Academies, the British Council, Innovate UK, and the UK Meteorological Office). The “Scientist Research Exchange” program, implemented by the British Academy, is one of more than 10 programs under the Newton Fund Vietnam.
