Film & Television Script Writing Skills Class

The Department of Art Studies (Faculty of Literature - University of Social Sciences and Humanities) in collaboration with the Center for Research and Application of Culture and Arts is enrolling students for a short-term training course on script writing skills for film and television starting in June 2015.

The Department of Art Studies (Faculty of Literature - University of Social Sciences and Humanities) in collaboration with the Center for Research and Application of Culture and Arts is enrolling students for a short-term training course in script writing skills for film and television starting in July 2015.

The course aims to train students with basic and practical skills to approach the film and television screenwriting industry, meeting the broadcasting needs of the increasingly high and expanding television channels today.

1. Object

All subjects who need to learn screenwriting for film and television

2. Lecturer

  • Prestigious domestic directors and screenwriters: director Dang Nhat Minh, director Phan Dang Di, director Pham Nhue Giang, director Dang Vu Thao (former Director of Vietnam Animation Studio), screenwriter Trinh Dan Phuong...
  • Teachers with experience and expertise in film theory and criticism of the Department of Art Studies - Faculty of Literature: Lecturer Tran Hinh, Dr. Pham Xuan Thach, Dr. Hoang Cam Giang

3. Objective

At the end of the course, students will have acquired basic theoretical knowledge and the following practical skills:

  • Introductory theory of cinematography, basic concepts and characteristics of cinema and television genres
  • Skills in writing movie scripts - TV series scripts
  • Documentary and animation script writing skills
  • Provide practical knowledge about film production processes and systems (including field trips to the production systems of one or several film and television facilities in Hanoi).
  • Good and highly rated scripts will be contacted by lecturers and introduced to film producers to be brought to television screens.

4. Study time

5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., 3 sessions/week on Monday - Wednesday - Friday or Tuesday - Thursday - Saturday

5. Learning conditions

Inheriting modern facilities and equipment from the Film Training Project sponsored by the Ford Foundation, students will study in standard classrooms with 30-40 students, watch movies, use learning materials at the library and cinema room of the Film Project with standard sound, screen, and lighting systems. In addition, students will be able to get acquainted with professional cameras and film editing machines to practice their own filmmaking skills...

6. Register for study

7. Registration documents include:

  • Application form (pick up and fill out at the registration office orDownload here).
  • Copy of ID card or copy of student card/university diploma (or college, vocational high school/high school/junior high school)
  • 2 photos 3 x 4 cm (taken within the last 3 months)

Tuition: 3,000,000 VND (including internship and printing of reference materials); 10% tuition discount for students currently studying at the school. Students are required to bring their tuition fees when registering (minimum 70%)
