Launching the Third Political Essay Contest on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation, 2023

In accordance with Official Letter No. 61-CV/BTGĐU dated February 23, 2023, from the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities hereby announces the "Third Political Essay Contest on Protecting the Ideological Foundation of the Party, 2023, in Hanoi" (hereinafter referred to as the Contest).

1. Purpose of the Competition

The competition aims to affirm the important role of protecting the Party's ideological foundation and combating erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the new situation; to raise awareness and responsibility of Party committees, Party organizations, cadres, Party members, and the people regarding the task of protecting the Party's ideological foundation and combating erroneous and hostile viewpoints.
Through this competition, we will continue to identify, train, cultivate, and hone the skills of our forces, forming a widespread network to firmly protect the Party's ideological foundation, effectively combat erroneous and hostile viewpoints, and contribute to protecting the Party, the State, the People, and the regime. We will improve the quality of political commentary works in newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and social media on protecting the Party's ideological foundation and combating the erroneous viewpoints of hostile, reactionary, and politically opportunistic forces, contributing to the protection, dissemination, and promotion of the Party's guidelines, policies, and viewpoints, as well as the State's laws and regulations, focusing on the contents of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Resolutions of the 13th Central Committee Meetings of the Party; and create a rich, high-quality, and highly combative source of materials to directly serve the propaganda work of agencies, units, and localities.

2. Eligible participants

Vietnamese citizens residing in Vietnam and abroad, as well as foreigners, can submit essays that meet the competition's criteria.
Encourage participation from cadres, Party members, civil servants, public employees, workers, trainees, and students of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, provincial and centrally-administered city political schools, district-level political centers, and cadre schools of ministries, branches, and central organizations; lecturers, trainees, and students of universities and colleges; cadres, Party members, civil servants, public employees, and workers of central and local departments, ministries, branches, and organizations; members, experts, and collaborators of the Steering Committee 35 at all levels; officers, cadres, and soldiers of the armed forces; cadres, reporters, editors, and collaborators of central and local press and media agencies; and members and youth of youth organizations at the central and local levels.

3. Requirements for submitted works

Entries must be essays written in Vietnamese (or in an ethnic language or a foreign language translated into Vietnamese), in the following formats: Magazines (print or electronic), Newspapers (print or electronic), radio/television/video clips, and must comply with the format requirements outlined in the competition rules.
Submitted works must be original creations, never before published in mass media or social networks prior to the launch of the competition.
Regarding the number of entries, for written entries, each author/group of authors may submit a maximum of two entries: one essay in the form of a magazine (print or online magazine) and one essay in the form of a newspaper (print or online newspaper). Each submitted entry must include both a printed copy (A4 size) and a soft copy (Microsoft Word format).
For audio and visual entries, each author/group of authors may submit a maximum of three entries: one in the radio news category; one in the television news category; and one in video clip format. Each entry must include an audio/video file and a printed copy of the literary script (in Microsoft Word format).

4. Theme of the work

Focus on fundamental and key issues concerning the protection of the Party's ideological foundation and the struggle against current erroneous and hostile viewpoints, such as: the scientific, revolutionary, and contemporary value of Marxism-Leninism;Ho Chi Minh's ideologyand additional proposals for development; protecting and disseminating the Party's guidelines, policies, and principles, the State's laws, the cause of reform, and the path to socialism in Vietnam today; identifying and combating erroneous and hostile viewpoints that undermine the Party, the State, and the regime; and practical experiences in organizing the protection of the Party's ideological foundation and combating erroneous and hostile viewpoints in various sectors, localities, and fields.

5. Time

Submission period: from Week 3 of February 2023 to May 31, 2023;
The awards ceremony for the competition was held in October 2023.
