Capacity building training and workshops on peacekeeping operations.

In fulfilling its mission of international cooperation in scientific research and training, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, plans to collaborate with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) of Germany and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) of Sweden to organize a capacity-building training program (April 14, 2014) and an international conference on the theme “Peacekeeping Operations: International Practices and Experiences for Vietnam” (April 15-16, 2014).

Participants: officials, lecturers, researchers, policymakers, and members of Vietnam's defense and security forces.

Speaker:Officials from the United Nations, FES, SIPRI, ASEAN, and leading global and regional scholars on security, defense, and peacekeeping.

Purpose:The program helps scientists, researchers, educators, policymakers, and implementers in Vietnam and the region gain a comprehensive, multifaceted perspective on the mission of peacekeeping in the new international context. It also provides an opportunity to share experiences on peacekeeping from countries in the region and around the world, as well as discuss future challenges related to peace, stability, and security.

Content:

(a) The changing world order and the challenges facing future peacekeeping operations;

(b) Towards consensus on concepts and norms in peacekeeping;

(c) The objectives of participating in peacekeeping operations;

(d) ASEAN and peacekeeping;

(c) Perspectives and prospects on peacekeeping

  • April 15th and 16th: Workshop
