1. Purpose and target audience of the exam:
The VNU Tests are cross-sectional exams, with each foreign language consisting of three independent tests, focusing on assessing three levels of foreign language proficiency: Level 3 (B1); Level 4 (B2); and Level 5 (C1) according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam. The test is used for the following two purposes:
(1) Consider the foreign language output standards for students in VNU;
(2) Assessing foreign language entrance standards for candidates wishing to take the entrance exam/admission to master's degree programs in VNU.
2. VNU Tests examination system:
The VNU Tests system assesses 10 foreign languages currently taught at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, including: English, French, Russian, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Lao, and Arabic.
3. Format, passing score, and exam structure:
- Reading, Listening, and Writing sections: Written tests on paper.
- Speaking test: Tested through a direct interview.
4. The process for coordinating the organization of VNU Tests.:
Units within Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) are coordinating the implementation of VNU Tests to support training activities, with the University of Foreign Languages, VNU, being responsible for organizing VNU Tests at the University of Foreign Languages, VNU.
