At the seminar, students and the audience will hear author Nguyen Phan Que Mai share her experiences and secrets about nurturing dreams, preparing for future endeavors (foreign language learning skills, independence), determination to achieve dreams (hunting for scholarships and job opportunities), integration, and enjoying experiences in an international environment. Based on her own experiences, the author will recount these stories through the pages of her travelogue.
The audience will also have the opportunity to engage in a more in-depth discussion with the author and guests, including Ms. Khuc Thi Hoa Phuong - Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Women's Publishing House, and Mr. Graham Alliband - former Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, currently Director of the Vietnam-Australia Human Resource Development Program, about the obstacles to the journey of reaching out to the world and the integration of Vietnamese people into the international environment, as well as about the Australian government scholarship program – a scholarship that provided author Nguyen Phan Que Mai with the opportunity to step out into the world many years ago.
Mr. Graham Alliband will also provide the latest information on opportunities, requirements, and application experiences for current Australian Government Scholarship programs, as well as the skills needed to prepare for studying abroad.
The program's host is educator Phan Ho Diep, a lecturer in the Department of Special Education at Hanoi Pedagogical University, author of numerous educational books for children, and mother of young translator Do Nhat Nam. Phan Ho Diep has also initiated many educational support activities and has a significant influence in the community.
Nguyen Phan Que Mai is the author and translator of 16 books of poetry and prose. She has received numerous literary awards, including the Hanoi Writers Association Poetry Award 2010, the Hanoi Union of Literature and Arts Award, and first prize in the "Poetry about Hanoi 2008-2010" competition. Having lived, worked, and studied in many countries around the world, Nguyen Phan Que Mai is currently residing in Brussels, Belgium, with her husband and two children. She is pursuing a PhD and working remotely for Lancaster University in the United Kingdom.
