Are you a film and television enthusiast? Curious about how a movie is made? Do you have many ideas but don't know how to turn them into a screenplay? Do you want to try your hand at an exciting field where your creativity can be unleashed? This short-term Film & Television Screenwriting Skills course is for you.

The Department of Art Studies (Faculty of Literature – University of Social Sciences and Humanities) in collaboration with the Center for Research and Application of Culture and Arts is recruiting students for a short-term training course on film and television scriptwriting skills, commencing in April 2017.

The course aims to train students in basic and practical skills to enter the field of film and television screenwriting, meeting the increasingly high and expanding broadcasting demands of television channels today.

1. Subject

This course is for all individuals interested in learning film and television screenwriting.

2. Lecturers

3. Training objectives and outcomes

By the end of the course, students will have grasped the following basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills: Introduction to film theory, basic concepts and characteristics of film and television; Skills in writing film scripts and scripts for long-running television series.Conceptualization, outline, segmentation, scene setting…); Skills in writing scripts for documentaries and animated films; Equipping students with practical knowledge about film production processes and systems (including field trips to the production systems of one or more film and television facilities in Hanoi).

The knowledge gained from this course can help students apply to become editors for television and news channels nationwide; or become heads of the Film and Television section on online newspapers, etc.

The instructors will contact and introduce good, highly-rated scripts to film producers for adaptation into television.

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate issued by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

4. Study time

- 6 PM - 8:30 PM, 3 sessions/week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays or Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

5. Learning conditions

Benefiting from modern facilities and equipment from the Ford Foundation-funded film training project, students will study in standard classrooms with 30-40 students per class, watch films, and use learning materials in the film project's library and screening room with standard sound, screen, and lighting systems.

6. Register for the course

Applications will be accepted from March 8, 2017 to April 15, 2017 at the Film Club office – 4th floor, Building I, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (please call 0979910711 before submitting your application).

7. The registration documents include:

- Registration form.

- Copy of identity card or copy of student ID/university diploma (or college, vocational high school/high school/junior high school diploma)

- 2 photos 3x4 cm (taken within the last 3 months)

Tuition:3,000,000 VND (including internship fees and printing of reference materials); 10% tuition fee reduction for students currently enrolled at the school. Students are required to bring their tuition fee (at least 70%) when registering.
