The conference on implementing the Prime Minister's directive and the Action Program of the Ministry of Education and Training on innovation in higher education management for the period 2010-2012 was held by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on May 8, 2010.
The conference on implementing the Prime Minister's directive and the Action Program of the Ministry of Education and Training on innovation in higher education management for the period 2010-2012 was held by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on May 8, 2010. Participants included leaders of units, functional departments, chairmen of departmental unions, and party cell committees. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc (Vice President of VNU) attended and directed the conference. The conference listened to the report of the Board of Directors on the draft Action Program on innovation in university education management for the period 2010-2015 with the following main contents: - Thoroughly grasp the contents of Directive No. 296/CT-TTG, Resolution No. 05-NQ/BCSĐ, Decision No. 179/QD-BGDDT, in order to create deep awareness among staff and students about the need to innovate university education management, improve training quality and effectiveness of scientific research; - Develop a school development strategy for the period 2010-2015, vision 2020; - Adjust the organizational structure of the school, by 2015 develop two more affiliated faculties, the Faculty of Political Science and the Faculty of Anthropology, establish new centers and research programs according to the development needs of the school; consider the possibility of adding functions and tasks to the Training Quality Assurance Center to become the Testing and Training Quality Assurance Center. - Complete and supplement management documents in the school; - Innovate management work, foster and improve staff capacity; - Improve training quality, training to meet social needs, training to meet international standards at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; - Innovate scientific research management work, taking scientific research as the foundation for innovation and improving training quality; - Strengthen resources to ensure comprehensive innovation of the school. Next, the Conference listened to a report on the Draft Strategy for the School's Development in the period 2010-2015, with a vision to 2030. The vision of the School by 2030 is: "Maintaining the position of a leading university in the country in social sciences and humanities, on par with leading universities in the region, effectively serving the cause of national construction and development". The development orientation of the School is determined as: - Promoting the strengths of the school of basic sciences, focusing on improving creative thinking and working skills of learners; - Building and developing a number of majors and specialties to reach international standards on the basis of internationalizing training programs, innovating training content and training organization and management methods; - Strengthening academic activities, expanding cooperation with high-ranking universities in the region and in the world. Based on the assessment of strengths, limitations, opportunities and immediate challenges, the strategic goals until 2020 are determined as follows: - Building and organizing the School according to the model and standards of a research university; - Training high-quality human resources in social sciences and humanities, meeting the needs of society, some majors reaching the level of prestigious universities in the region and approaching international levels; - Regarding scientific research: enhancing the research capacity of lecturers and students; timely access to advanced research methods; scientific research serving the socio-economic needs of the country, serving the training career of the school itself with the idea: research for training and training combined with research. - Building a team of cadres and lecturers: increasing in quantity and having high professional quality; - Expanding and enhancing the effectiveness of international cooperation; - Increase the quantity and effectively use funding sources to strengthen facilities, improve teaching quality, and increase the income of staff. The second part of the conference was devoted to the contributions and discussions of units in the school on the current situation and solutions to innovate management activities at the school with specific contents such as: the role of student union members in ensuring and improving training quality; innovation in staff work to improve training quality; solutions to improve the quality of full-time university training in the period 2010-2012; foreign affairs to improve the quality of research and teaching; solutions on management and investment in facilities to improve training quality; Factors that help improve the quality of scientific research... At the conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc (Vice President of VNU) said: "The school is the first unit in VNU to organize a conference to deploy the action program of the Ministry of Education and Training on management innovation, not only that, but also organize these activities very correctly and effectively. In particular, the opinions expressed at this conference are very enthusiastic and of high quality". Prof. Nguyen Huu Duc also highly appreciated the boldness and daring to think and act of the school when setting the goal of being in the top 300 advanced schools in the region by 2020 and planning to organize the accreditation of the school's training programs according to the standards of the Association of Southeast Asian Universities (AUN) by 2012. At the upcoming VNU-Hanoi conference on innovation in university education management, he also expressed his hope that many representatives of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will participate with sharp and practical contributions like at this conference.
