Sunday - March 28, 2010 06:25
ALUMNI OPINION * Pham Anh Tuan Born in 1977 Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnamnet Online Newspaper. www.vietnamnet.vn Former student of the 1995-1999 cohort I chose journalism by chance. Even as graduation approached, I hadn't written a single decent article. Impatient, I confided in my professor, who said: "You've been equipped with the basic knowledge; now go out and gain experience to learn the trade. Everything has a path." I approached a few newspapers to apply for collaborations, and I found I adapted quickly. Taking advantage of this momentum, I applied to work at an online newspaper. From reporter to department head, editorial secretary, and Deputy Editor-in-Chief, it all happened one after another, as if it were preordained. Occasionally, when I meet my professor and talk about my journey into the profession, he says it seems like a coincidence, but in reality, it was very much a matter of fate, because anyone who chooses journalism already has a tendency to accept challenges and a ready, tireless fighting spirit. * Tran Ngoc Diep, born in 1982, Director of the Copyright and Media Center, VMG Media Joint Stock Company, former student of the 2000-2004 cohort. After graduating from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, I chose Public Relations to pursue a master's degree in France. My current work is in a very new field: Copyright and Media. If I hadn't graduated from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, I might not have the comprehensive knowledge to think quickly, the confidence to deal with obstacles in my work; I might not have the confidence to meet and persuade famous people to cooperate with me in the field of copyright. Also from the university environment, I have many relationships with seniors and friends - people who have helped my communication plans achieve effectiveness. I believe that journalistic thinking can help us succeed in different fields.
