Studying Anthropology is the love I chose

As a former student of K37 of the Department of Ethnology and the Faculty of Anthropology today of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, due to her good research and foreign language skills, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh was awarded a scholarship for a Master's degree in Anthropology in the Netherlands and a PhD in Anthropology in Australia, right at the time when Vietnamese Ethnology was shifting its development direction to Anthropology. For a woman, studying non-stop and working hard in ethnographic fieldwork to become a true Anthropologist was not an easy journey. But those difficulties were compensated by the happiness when her spiritual life became richer thanks to scientific knowledge; and the passion to bring deeper understanding and contribute more knowledge about the social life of rural Vietnam was gradually realized by the female scientist. From a management perspective, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh also held the position of Deputy Director of the Institute of Ethnology and is currently Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Ethnology (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences).
