11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
11.1. Purpose and scope of the thesis
11.1.1. Research objectives of the thesis
Conduct comparative research.
This study examines the meaning of idioms (limited to four-component idioms) to identify similarities and differences in the thinking and linguistic life of people in Vietnam and Korea. The research focuses on two important aspects: social and cultural, as these are crucial and closely related to people's daily lives. The research results will contribute to the training and research of Korean language and culture in Vietnam, and provide a valuable source of reference material for the field of Korean-Vietnamese linguistic comparison. We consider this study as a case study.
11.1.2. Research Subject of the Thesis
The subject of this thesis is the socio-cultural semantic aspect of idioms, but is limited to four-component idioms and compared in the following order: Korean four-component idioms as the basic corpus, and Vietnamese four-component idioms as the corresponding corpus and content.Used to compare and highlight the characteristics and features of the Korean language.
11.2. Research methods used
Because the research subject (four-part idioms) is a special unit in two languages with different typological characteristics, we first collected and investigated linguistic data, then classified four-part idioms with social meanings and those with cultural meanings. After classifying them into these two semantic groups, we applied methods of analyzing and describing the meaning of the idioms; used comparative methods to identify similarities and differences; and employed statistical techniques, creating tables and diagrams to present the results of the comparative analysis.
11.3. Main results and conclusions
11.3.1. Main results
Through the theoretical framework of idioms (with a focus on four-component idioms) along with semantic theory and an overview of research in Chapter 1, we approached the study of the semantic content of four-component idioms – a special linguistic unit in Korean and Vietnamese. Based on the theoretical foundation in Chapter 1, we conducted a comparison and contrast of Korean and Vietnamese four-component idioms at the socio-semantic level in Chapter 2 and at the cultural-semantic level in Chapter 3.
In Chapter 2, the thesis focuses on studying the meaning of four-component Korean idioms (compared with Vietnamese) based on the social semantic plane with 04 content areas: (1) Social reality; (2) Social organizational relations; (3) Family relations; (4) Law.
In Chapter 3, the thesis focuses on studying the meaning of four-component Korean idioms (compared with Vietnamese) based on cultural semantics with 4 content areas: (1) Behavioral culture; (2) Ideological culture; (3) Customs and traditions culture; (4) Beliefs and religions culture.
Based on the results of quantitative surveys, we delve into the semantic analysis of several representative cases (case studies) for each subfield of content reflected in idioms. From this, we identify similarities and differences in the socio-semantic content of selected Korean-Vietnamese idioms, as expressed through four-component idioms.
11.3.2. Conclusion
During the teaching and research of Korean language and culture, the author has realized that there is still an area of knowledge that has not been thoroughly explored in teaching, learning, and research. This area is the four-component idiom – a special linguistic unit within the linguistic treasury of every nation. Through the research results of this thesis, we have a reliable source of reference material that can be incorporated into teaching about the linguistic characteristics, as well as the cultural and social characteristics of Korea, in relation to and in comparison with Vietnam.
12. Directions for further research:
In this thesis, the author identifies several issues that require further investigation and research, such as: surveying the usage and frequency of four-component idioms in the daily communication of Koreans and Vietnamese. From this, a list of frequently used four-component idioms should be compiled, linked to their context. This will improve the effectiveness of learning and applying idioms in daily life, thereby enhancing learners' language proficiency. This is also the research direction we will continue to pursue in the future.

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis
11.1. Purpose and research object of the thesis
11.1.1. Research purpose of the thesis
The thesis conducts a comparative study on the meanings of idioms (limited to four-element idioms) to see the similarities and differences in the thinking and linguistic life of Korean and Vietnamese. The research focuses on two aspects: social and cultural because these are two important aspects that need to be clarified because they are closely related to people's daily lives. Research results serve Korean language and culture training and research activities in Vietnam. At the same time, contribute more useful reference sources to the field of Korean - Vietnamese language comparison. We consider this study as a case study.
11.1.2. Research object of the thesis
The research object of the thesis is the social and cultural semantic aspect of idioms, but is limited to the scope of four-element idioms and the comparison of Korean four-element idioms as the basic corpus. Vietnamese four-element idioms are the corresponding language and content used to compare and highlight the characteristics and characteristics of Korean.
11.2. Research methods
Because the research object (four-element idiom) is a special unit in two languages with different typological characteristics, we first collected and investigated the corpus, then compiled it, classify four-element idioms which meaning content reflects society and four-element idioms which meaning content reflects culture. After classifying into two groups of meaning content as above, we apply the method of analyzing and describing the meaning of idioms; Use the compare-contrast method to identify similarities and differences; Apply statistical techniques, create tables and diagrams, and present comparative analysis results.
11.3. Major results and conclusions
11.3.1. Major results
Through the theoretical framework of idioms (focus on four-element idioms) along with the theory of semantics and an overview of the research situation in Chapter 1, we have approached the study of the semantic content of four-element idioms - a special linguistic unit in Korean and Vietnamese. Based on the theoretical basis in Chapter 1, we compare and contrast Korean - Vietnamese four-element idioms at the socio-semantic level in chapter 2 and at the cultural semantic level in chapter 3.
In chapter 2, the thesis focuses on researching the meaning of four-element idioms in Korean (compared with Vietnamese) based on the socio-semantic aspect with 04 content areas: (1) Social reality; (2) Social organization relations; (3) Family relationships; (4) Law.
In chapter 3, the thesis focuses on researching the meaning of four- element idioms in Korean (compared with Vietnamese) based on the cultural semantic aspect with 4 content areas: (1) Cultural behavior; (2) Ideological culture; (3) Customs and practices; (4) Beliefs and religion.
Based on the results of quantitative surveys, we analyze the meaning of a few representative cases (case studies) for each sub-field of reflective content of idioms. From there, find the similarities and differences in the selected Korean and Vietnamese socio-semantic content expressed through four-element idioms.
11.3.2. Conclusions
In the process of teaching and researching Korean language and Korean culture, the author realized that there is still a range of content knowledge that has not been thoroughly exploited in teaching, learning and research. That is the four-element idioms - a special linguistic unit in the linguistic treasure of each country. Through the research results of this thesis, we have a reliable source of reference materials that can be included in teaching about the linguistic characteristics as well as the cultural and social characteristics of Korea in relation to contact and comparison with Vietnam.
12. Future research directions
In this thesis, the author identifies several issues that require further exploration and in-depth study, such as investigating the usage and frequency of four-element idioms in the daily communication of Koreans and Vietnamese. Based on this, a compilation of frequently used four-element idioms along with their usage contexts should be created. This will enhance the effectiveness of learning and applying idioms in real-life situations, thereby improving learners' language proficiency. This is also the research direction that we aim to pursue in the future.
