History of formation
The Faculty of Philosophy, Hanoi University (now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) was established in September 1976 by a decision of the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Ministry of Higher Education and Vocational Training (now the Ministry of Education and Training). The establishment of the Faculty of Philosophy immediately after national reunification was a significant event, clearly demonstrating the deep understanding and concern of the Vietnamese Party and State for the development of a fundamental science like Philosophy in Vietnam. The founding of the Faculty of Philosophy at Hanoi University contributed to expanding the university's training programs at a time when the university was celebrating its 20th anniversary.
