Scientific conference "Nghe An - 990 years of formation and development"

This is a meaningful activity in the series of events leading up to the 990th anniversary of the name Nghe An, aiming to introduce, honor, and promote fine traditional values; awaken the pride of the people of Nghe An; affirm the position, role, and great contributions of the land and people of Nghe An in the historical process of nation-building and national defense; and demonstrate determination to build a more developed Nghe An region.

The workshop was chaired by: Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang - Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Mr. Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An Province; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai - Standing Deputy Director of Hanoi National University; and Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi National University.

In his opening remarks at the conference, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Nguyen Duc Trung, affirmed: The scientific conference "Nghe An - 990 Years of Formation and Development" aims to recreate the historical landscape; affirm the position, role, and great contributions of the land and people of Nghe An in the nation's long journey of building and defending the country. "With great faith and expectations, through this conference, Nghe An province hopes that delegates, scientists, and leading experts nationwide will analyze, discuss, research, clarify, and provide scientific arguments, propose tasks and solutions to contribute to the formulation of policies, mechanisms for building and developing socio-economic development, consolidating the political system, national defense and security; strengthening and expanding foreign relations with the aspiration to rise, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of Nghe An," the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province stated.

Speaking at the seminar, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang – Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council – emphasized: This is a very important event in a series of practical activities to commemorate the 990th anniversary of the name Nghe An, continuing to promote, honor, and spread the great cultural and spiritual values, and the glorious historical and revolutionary traditions of Nghe An homeland.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that through the seminar, Nghe An province should summarize practical experiences and gather more historical, cultural, and archaeological evidence to further deepen the understanding of the formation and development of Nghe An province. This would provide more scientific arguments to honor the historical and cultural values ​​of the land and people of Nghe An, transforming these cultural and historical values ​​into development values ​​for the province. This would strongly affirm the significant contributions of Nghe An province to the nation-building and national defense process, in the struggle for national independence in the past, as well as in the cause of building and protecting the Vietnamese Fatherland in the present era.

In particular, emphasizing the importance of promoting the historical and cultural traditions of the people of Nghe An, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang noted the need to widely disseminate the message of a united, creative Nghe An, full of willpower and aspirations to rise, with high determination and great efforts to achieve high results in socio-economic development as set forth in the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025.

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai - Permanent Vice Director of Hanoi National University, affirmed: Among the 63 provinces and cities nationwide, Nghe An is a special province; a land of spiritual significance and outstanding people, truly a miniature Vietnam because it possesses all the necessary natural and demographic factors. These outstanding characteristics are the foundation for the formation, development, and important contributions of Nghe An to the nation's historical process; it is a strategic location for implementing the Party and State's policies to stabilize socio-political conditions, develop the economy, integrate internationally, and contribute to the overall development of the country.

With the position entrusted to it by the Party, State, and Government, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has been implementing many key national projects to fulfill its mission of “Innovation and creativity – national responsibility – sustainable development“Based on the successful cooperation programs over the past years, in the coming time, Vietnam National University, Hanoi hopes to have more opportunities for in-depth and broad cooperation with Nghe An Province in many fields (from science and technology, economics, health sciences…to issues in social sciences and humanities, promoting cultural resources, policy advice…etc…), contributing practically to the efforts to realize the “Lam River Miracle” as Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expected when he delivered his directive at the 19th Congress of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee on October 17, 2020!”

In his opening remarks at the conference, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, stated that the conference received 68 papers from scientists in various professional fields, as well as managers and representatives from central and local agencies and departments. The papers focused on in-depth analysis of many aspects from geography, history, culture, education, politics, diplomacy, integration, and development, concentrating on three main thematic groups:Regarding the geography, evolution, and historical formation of Nghe An province; and regarding Nghe An's contributions to the nation's historical process;Regarding the development potential of Nghe An in the coming period.
