On the morning of April 21, the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, held its 29th Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the university's founding and the 80th anniversary of the Faculty of Literature's tradition.
The Congress was held in the context of comprehensive university autonomy and the country entering a new era of development, demonstrating high political determination and identifying the central goal as developing the university according to the model of an advanced research university, affirming its national position and reaching international standards. During the past term, despite facing numerous challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic, personnel changes, and pressure from the autonomous mechanism, the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has maintained its comprehensive leadership role and successfully fulfilled the targets of the 28th term's Resolution. Notably, there have been significant advancements in training, scientific research, university governance, and international integration. Entering a new term, the Congress defined the strategic direction: "Unity – Innovation – Self-reliance – Development," focusing on mobilizing all resources to build a high-quality scientific staff, modernize the training and management system; and at the same time promote research and policy advice to serve national development. The Congress set a target that by 2030, the Social Sciences and Humanities sector of Hanoi National University will be ranked among the top 400-500 in the world. The university also aims to perfect a smart university governance model, diversify revenue sources, and optimize costs to invest effectively in science, faculty, and infrastructure. In particular, the Hoa Lac campus will be developed according to a roadmap, synchronized with the management and operation of the inner-city campus. At the Congress, five key tasks were set forth with a series of specific targets regarding quality assurance, digital transformation, curriculum development, internationalization of scientific journals, and increasing income for staff and lecturers. The Congress also elected a new Party Committee with high political determination, ready to create a period of sustainable, innovative and integrated development – enabling the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to continue affirming its pioneering role in the Vietnamese higher education system in the new era.
