The year 2025 concluded with many significant milestones, marking the strong and comprehensive transformations of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) on its path of innovation, international integration, and national responsibility. From successfully organizing strategically significant political and academic events, pioneering the implementation of major Central Committee resolutions, and enhancing its position in world university rankings, to breakthroughs in scientific research, high-quality human resource training, international cooperation, and the development of the VNU urban area in Hoa Lac, the overall picture of the typical events and achievements in 2025 clearly demonstrates VNU's determination, vision, and aspiration for sustainable development in the new phase.

This was one of the points included in General Secretary To Lam's keynote address at the 18th Congress of the Hanoi City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, on October 16th.

With a history spanning over 120 years, Vietnam National University, Hanoi aims to become a leading training and research center in the country and the region, and to be among the top 200 universities globally.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his wish for Hanoi National University to become one of the leading universities in the country and the region, and to be among the top 200 universities in the world in the near future.

The competition, co-organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) with Fudan University (China) and international organizations, officially opened on June 30, 2025.

Religion is affirmed as one of the resources for national development, and religious affairs are also identified as a task of the political system. However, currently, the number of high-quality human resources with qualifications in Religious Studies is quite modest. This reality has prompted the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to develop a training program in Religious Studies to equip students with theoretical and practical knowledge of Religious Studies, as well as knowledge and skills in religious affairs, to meet societal needs.

In recent years, Political Science has gradually become a preferred choice for many parents and students across the country. Although it doesn't have the centuries-long history of development found in developed countries, in Vietnam, particularly at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, this field of study has established its own unique position thanks to its high-quality training and dynamic, open learning environment that allows students to explore their potential.

On the afternoon of June 25, 2025, the "AVP–USSH Academic Mentoring Reflections" program took place at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU–USSH). This meaningful activity aimed to summarize, share, and draw lessons from the implementation of the academic mentoring program between VNU-USSH lecturers and international volunteers from the Australian Volunteer Program (AVP) – an initiative funded by the Australian Government.

On June 12, 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will organize the forum "Connecting Technology and Innovation in Vietnamese Journalism and Communication 2025" with the theme: "The Power of AI for Young Communicators".

On June 10th, 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will welcome Mr. Hamaya Kenichi, representative of the Sumitomo Foundation, to introduce and promote the Japan-Related Research Grant Program for fiscal year 2025.

President Ho Chi Minh visited Hanoi University (now Vietnam National University, Hanoi) three times and offered valuable teachings to generations of students and faculty. His teachings on "learning to serve the Fatherland," "learning must go hand in hand with practice," and "patriotism is learning" have become guiding principles for the educational activities and development of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

On May 16, 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, signed a memorandum of cooperation with FSI Investment, Trading and Technology Development Joint Stock Company in various fields.

This was the topic discussed at the Korean Studies Forum in Hanoi, themed "The New Future of Korean Science and Technology in Vietnam," held this morning, May 9, 2025, at Lotte Center Hanoi.

The launching ceremony was organized by the Cam Pha City Party Committee and People's Committee on April 22, 2025, in Cam Pha City (Quang Ninh province), to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 25, 1975 - April 30, 2025); and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Mining Region (April 25, 1955 - April 24, 2025).

On the morning of April 21, the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, held its 29th Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the university's founding and the 80th anniversary of the Faculty of Literature's tradition.
