On July 20, 2026, in Ta Dung commune, Lam Dong province, a delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Chieu – Head of the Faculty of Politics and International Studies, conducted a survey and collected information to support the analysis and evaluation of the implementation of Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW and Conclusion No. 65-KL/TW of the Politburo on ethnic affairs. The activity aimed to contribute to proposing orientations, tasks, and solutions for reforming and improving ethnic policies, meeting the requirements of national development in the new period.

On the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27th, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, organized numerous activities to commemorate the heroic martyrs, visit those who rendered meritorious services, and meet with staff and employees who are children of families receiving preferential treatment. Each incense offering, each greeting, and each shared story served as a reminder of the sacrifices made for today's peace, while simultaneously inspiring a sense of responsibility to continue this legacy in every staff member and lecturer of the University.

On July 21, 2026, a group of K68 students majoring in Vietnamese Studies, Faculty of Linguistics and Vietnamese Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, officially departed for Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) to participate in the "Following the Li River" practical training program, which will take place from July 21 to July 25, 2026.

On the morning of July 21, 2026, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) welcomed and held a working meeting with a delegation from the Central Culture Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Association to exchange and finalize a plan for coordinating the 2026 Vu Lan Festival program with the theme "Illuminating Gratitude in the Vu Lan Season - Enlightening the Path in Life".

On July 17, 2026, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) officially issued a Circular regulating the exploitation and use of open educational resources in higher education activities, marking the first time Vietnam has had a specialized legal document on open educational resources in higher education. This is the result of a policy-making process involving many experts and higher education institutions nationwide, with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) being one of the pioneering units that collaborated with the MOET from the research, development, and policy-making stages.

Three years ago, Nguyen Duong Phuong Anh – a student from the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi – entered the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities with a love for literature and a desire to learn more each day. Three years later, that journey culminated in her graduating as Valedictorian of the Literature major in 2026, with a cumulative GPA of 3.82/4.0 and an Excellent degree.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1976–2026), on July 17, 2026, the Asian Center, University of the Philippines (UP), in collaboration with the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH), organized an online forum themed “Philippines – Vietnam: Neighbors in Dialogue”. The event brought together scholars, lecturers, and researchers from both countries to exchange views on the past, present, and prospects of Vietnam-Philippines relations in the context of a rapidly changing regional and global environment.

On July 20, 2026, at the Military School of Military Region 9 (Can Tho City), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (specifically the Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management) collaborated with the Office of the Ministry of National Defense and the Command of Military Region 9 to organize the opening ceremony of the training course "Document Management and Archiving" for officials working in document management and archiving at the commune-level military commands and agencies and units under Military Region 9. This program continues the success of previous training courses held at the Hanoi Capital Command and Military Region 7, affirming the effective cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Ministry of National Defense in training, developing, and standardizing the team of document management and archiving officials to meet the requirements of the new situation.

From July 12th to 17th, 2026, a delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (USSH), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam - Vice Rector of the University, participated in the final round of the 10th Youth Innovation Competition on Lancang-Mekong Region's Governance and Development (YICMG 2026) at Wuhan University, China.

Standing before the graduating class at the 2026 Graduation Ceremony, Batch II, of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Vo Huu Thang – Valedictorian of Political Science with a GPA of 3.9/4.0 – chose not to dwell on his academic achievements. What the new graduate wanted to convey was the responsibility of young people after leaving the lecture halls, the value of knowledge when transformed into action, and the aspiration to contribute to the community. This is also the inspiring message of a generation of young intellectuals ready to embark on a new journey.

The Vietnamese national team won two bronze medals and an award for teachers at the 2026 International Economic Olympiad (IEO), held from July 12th to July 20th, 2026 in Shenzhen, China. One of the bronze medals was awarded to Nguyen Thanh Truc, an 11th-grade student specializing in Geography at the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities.

Recently, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) respectfully sent congratulatory letters to new graduates with outstanding academic and training achievements, and also provided information about the opportunity to apply for master's programs through the application review method.

On July 18th, the University of Science, Hue University, in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; and Hanoi Pedagogical University, organized the international scientific conference “Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage Values: International Experiences and Vietnamese Practices” in Hue City.

On the morning of July 15, 2026, a working session on "Consulting on the Planning for the Preservation, Restoration, and Rehabilitation of Historical and Archaeological Sites" was held at the Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is part of the My Son Temple Complex Planning Project until 2035, with a vision to 2050. The event marks an important step forward for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) in its strategy of contributing intellectual resources to the preservation of national cultural heritage.

On July 17th and 18th, 2026, the second graduation ceremony for 1,206 new graduates will be held at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Hall, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH). This solemn ceremony acknowledges the academic achievements and dedication of 1,206 new graduates, while also opening a new chapter for these young intellectuals to embark on their journey into life, equipped with knowledge, confidence, and aspirations in the humanities.
