VNU USSH promotes cooperation in human resource training and scientific research with Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City

This is the key content agreed upon at the working session between the leaders of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU (VNU-USSH) and the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City today, August 6, 2025.
At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) expressed his gratitude to Most Venerable Elder Thich Tri Quang (Rector of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City), Most Venerable Dr. Thich Buu Chanh, Most Venerable Dr. Thich Nhat Tu (Permanent Deputy Rector), Most Venerable Dr. Thich Giac Hoang (Deputy General Secretary, Head of the Department of Distance Learning Buddhism), and the Venerable Monks for their warm welcome to the University's delegation.
The delegation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities including Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector); Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Truong Giang (Head of the Department of Anthropology and Religious Studies) visited and worked with the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City.
The leaders of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities proposed a number of areas of cooperation between the school and the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City, such as: cooperation in training bachelors, masters, and doctors; implementing key scientific research activities and publishing international and national publications; cooperation in training a team of experts in ancient languages related to Vietnamese culture such as Pali, Sanskrit, Prakrit, Tibet, Cham, Han, and Nom.
In addition, the University also proposed a number of other areas of cooperation such as: developing a long-term research plan on the Vietnamese pagoda system at home and abroad; implementing the project to collect Vietnamese cultural resources overseas, building a "Center for Vietnamese Cultural Resources Overseas" at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; cooperating in training, exchanging lecturers and experts.
The Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City highly appreciated the cooperation proposals of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Speaking and exchanging at the meeting, Venerable Dr. Thich Nhat Tu and Venerable Dr. Thich Giac Hoang said that the Executive Council of the Academy was pleased and highly appreciated the proposals of the School, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in training with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in training and research.
The two sides agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation in training bachelors in Han Nom and bachelors in Religious Studies at the Academy. Organizing scientific seminars, jointly implementing research and publishing; enhancing exchanges and training of lecturers and researchers will also be implemented by both sides in the coming time.
