Student scientific research conference "Green Torch" school year 2020-2021

On April 19, 2021, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU organized the "Green Torch" Student Scientific Research Conference for the 2020-2021 academic year. At the Conference, 7 authors/groups of authors had the opportunity to present their scientific research works conducted during the past academic year, listening to the evaluations and comments of the Scientific Council.

Attending and participating in the Conference were Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Dr. Phan Van Kien (Lecturer of the Institute of Journalism and Communication), Dr. Duong Xuan Quang (Lecturer of the Faculty of Linguistics), MSc. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh (Lecturer of the Institute of Policy and Management), Ms. Ta Thi Bich Ngoc (Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Ms. Nguyen Bich Dao (Chairman of the Student Association of the University).

First held in the 2009-2010 school year under the name "Youth Union Award", from the 2014-2015 school year, the award was officially named "Green Torch" as a continuation of the tradition and prestige in scientific research of the School, with the enthusiasm and passion of youth to make a research university famous.

In the 2020-2021 student scientific research season, the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities continues to organize the "Green Torch" Student Scientific Research Conference to honor student scientific research works with content that addresses practical issues for students, applicable to the work of the Union - Association and the school's youth movement; at the same time, arouse and promote students' creativity, initiative and passion for scientific research activities.

This year's conference has the theme "Digital Humanities" with the following research directions: Application of science, technology in the fields of social sciences and humanities; interdisciplinary research of students in the field of social sciences and humanities; needs, aesthetics, and life values ​​of students in the digital age; student startups; initiatives with the work of the Youth Union.

Awarding "Green Torch" Certificates to 7 authors/groups of authors at the Conference

After the opening and introduction of the “Green Torch” award, the Conference listened to presentations on student scientific research topics by 7 participating authors/author groups. Each author/author group has 10 minutes to present the results of the research project, 5 minutes for the review board members, attendees to ask questions and the individual/research group to answer. The scientific research projects and presentations of the authors/author groups are evaluated and awarded according to the criteria previously provided by the Organizing Committee.

After more than 2 hours of watching the presentations of 7 authors/groups of authors and giving comments and criticisms, the Scientific Council consulted and decided to award 7 award categories to the research works participating in the Conference, specifically as follows:

  • Most impressive topic category: Author group Le Thi Tuyet, Le Dai Minh, Nguyen Que Ly, Nguyen Hien Mai (K62 Clinical Psychology): Topic "The relationship between mindfulness and stress in adolescents in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic: The mediating role of self-control".
  • Outstanding survey category: Author group Pham Phuong Nhi, Tran Mai Phuong, Le Thi Hoai, Hoang Thi Nhung (K63 Sociology): Topic "Awareness and behavior of using disposable plastic products of students (Case study of University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU)".
  • Highly applicable topic category: Author group Nguyen Linh Chi, Dao Khanh Ha (K63 Sociology): Topic "Current status of students' awareness and behavior on copyright issues in the learning environment (Research at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities)".
  • Outstanding solution category: Author group Tu Thi Minh Nguyet, Le Thi Tuyet (K64 Office Administration): Topic "Application of Ergonomics in designing study space in student dormitories".
  • Outstanding presentation category and most favorite award (Based on votes on Fanpage): Author group Vu Thi Phuong, Do Ngoc Anh, Chu Thao Anh (K63 Tourism Studies): Topic "Evaluating students' satisfaction with the UPM online learning platform (Case study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities)".
  • Topic of the year: Author Le Dinh Dai (K64 Philosophy): Topic "Living values ​​of students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities today".
