The University of Social Sciences and Humanities welcomed and held a working meeting with De Gruyter Brill publishing house and the Import-Export and Development Joint Stock Company.

On the afternoon of May 14, 2026, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, held a meeting with a delegation from De Gruyter Brill Publishing House and CDIMEX (Cultural Import-Export and Development Joint Stock Company). The meeting opened up many prospects for cooperation in enhancing the university's international publication standing and sharing academic resources for its staff and lecturers.

Attending the meeting were, on the partner side, Mr. Peng Guo, Representative of De Gruyter Brill Publishing House and CDIMEX Company, the exclusive distributor of the publishing house in Vietnam. On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, and representatives from specialized units.

Speaking at the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong emphasized that, as a center for training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam, the university always focuses on connecting with reputable international publishing partners to support scientists in publishing their research works to the world.

Mr. Peng Guo stated that De Gruyter Brill is a reputable publisher with over 300 years of history. Currently, it is strategically focusing on the fields of social sciences and East Asian studies. As one of the leading publishers in Europe (especially the Netherlands and Germany), De Gruyter Brill aims to expand its influence into the Asian region. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has been identified as a potential partner for the two institutions to jointly implement comprehensive cooperation programs.
One of the key topics of the meeting was the proposal to offer preferential article processing fees (APC) to USSH faculty and staff whose research papers are accepted for publication on the De Gruyter Brill system. This is a special support mechanism aimed at encouraging the university's academic community to participate more deeply in the high-quality international publication network.

On the part of CDIMEX Company, formerly an enterprise under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with 20 years of experience in importing and distributing foreign language books. In 2015, the company was privatized and has now been operating for 20 years in the field of importing and distributing foreign language books. With its experience and international academic network, the company is committed to being a bridge between the University and De Gruyter Brill Publishing House. At the same time, CDIMEX will play a supporting role, answering questions for the University's lecturers during the process of submitting manuscripts and working with the publisher, ensuring a smooth and highly effective process.
Acknowledging the proposals from the partner, the University leadership affirmed that USSH is ready to act as a focal point to introduce and disseminate the De Gruyter Brill brand to the network of member universities within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU). In addition, the University will also propose to the VNU Library and Digital Knowledge Center to consider, evaluate, and select learning resources from De Gruyter Brill to incorporate into the system for research and teaching purposes.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to soon concretize the discussed contents through formal cooperation agreements, continue to maintain exchanges, and gradually concretize the discussed contents through appropriate cooperation programs and agreements in the future. Strengthening the connection between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, De Gruyter Brill Publishing House, and CDIMEX Import-Export and Cultural Development Joint Stock Company is expected to contribute to expanding international learning resources, promoting research and scientific publications, and enhancing the effectiveness of academic cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of social sciences and humanities.
