Before each exam season, candidates are always stressed about choosing a major. Currently, due to following the crowd mentality and pursuing majors that are considered "hot", many candidates still have concerns when choosing majors in social sciences and humanities such as: not knowing what to study and what to do after graduation...
Reasons for choosing social and humanities
Each student has their own reasons for choosing a major. When asked why they chose social sciences and humanities, some students said they chose social sciences and humanities because it is a continuous process - Nguyen Thuy Dung (K55 Social Work major): I studied social sciences at high school, so when I applied for university, I decided to take the C block at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Some students came to the humanities because of their interests and passions, Tran Viet Cuong (K52 Literature): I chose to take the humanities because of my own pre-existing intentions. This choice was not constrained by my parents or anyone else, but mainly by my passion. And I decided to choose the University of Social Sciences and Humanities because the school has a more open training system. Choosing to study social sciences and humanities after researching and having clear advice is the reason of Nguyen Thoan (K51 Literature): Since I was little, I liked Literature, until I was in high school and oriented to take the university entrance exam, I decided to choose the Literature department of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. When I was in high school, my teachers also talked about the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as a leading institution in training full-time students, so that greatly contributed to my future orientation. It can be said that each student has a different reason for choosing to study social sciences and humanities.
More opportunities - more choices

Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Tourism Studies - said: In addition to the traditional basic social sciences and humanities such as Literature, History, Philosophy, there are also some new majors with practical applications: Journalism, Tourism, Sociology, Vietnam Studies... Therefore, candidates have more and more choices in social sciences and humanities. Since the 2009-2010 school year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has recruited students from group A for 10 majors. The opportunities to study social sciences and humanities have been more open. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien (K55 Psychology) shared: I studied in group A but really like Psychology. Along with that, the learning process at the School always helps students gain important foundational knowledge, Nhiep Van Thien (K51 Oriental Studies): In my opinion, the greatest thing that the School has equipped each student with is methodology, problem analysis skills and a good basic cultural background. It can be understood as a method, a skill that when we come into contact with a social problem, we can also know where to start and how to perceive it.
