This was a statement by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Xuan Nha (Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi) during a meeting with journalists, reporters, and former journalism students of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, on the occasion of the 88th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Journalism Day (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2013), which took place on June 19, 2013.
Media plays a role in maximizing resource utilization.
Communication plays a crucial role, especially in today's social development trends. Even in the fields of research and education, universities are increasingly recognizing the importance of communication in connecting with society, businesses, employers, partners, and students. A strong institution with good facilities, efficient operations, and valuable research projects will fail to leverage its strengths and attract resources for development if it cannot connect with the outside world or widely promote itself.
The member universities in particular, and Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) in general, have trained thousands of graduates and students of various levels for the country, including many famous scientists both domestically and internationally, outstanding managers; and valuable research works, including dozens that have won State awards and Ho Chi Minh awards… Currently, VNU scientists are still continuing to implement many scientific projects with practical significance, contributing to the development of society and the country. However, communication and promotion activities are still not commensurate with VNU's activities, so the dedication and efforts of the faculty have not yet received the encouragement, support, and recognition they deserve from society.
Given these realities, the member universities in particular, and VNU in general, are very keen to create connections between former students and journalism graduates – journalists currently working at various agencies and newsrooms – and the activities of VNU's media centers.
Discussing this issue, Associate Professor Phung Xuan Nha emphasized: "The Faculty of Journalism and Communication, the Center for Journalism and Communication Professional Training (University of Social Sciences and Humanities), and the Center for Communication and Public Relations (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) will be important bridges in this activity."
Effective promotion is the mission of the media agency.
The Center for Journalism and Communication Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, recognizes its significant role and responsibility in the University's development towards becoming a research university. Besides providing a modern, practical training environment closely aligned with real-world situations and supporting the Faculty of Journalism and Communication in its training activities, the Center also plays a crucial role in disseminating information and promoting the University's image. In the modern era, promoting the institution's image externally is extremely important. For large organizations, the communications department is highly valued because it represents the institution's image to the outside world, and investing in communications is one of the ways to develop a brand.

Over the past period, the Center has consistently promoted the brand image of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. Together with the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, the Center acts as a bridge to external media outlets to publish images of the University in various media channels, organize press conferences to introduce important University activities, and design diverse and user-friendly admissions website interfaces. The Center also actively promotes major events with significant impact, such as: "One Thousand Paper Cranes and Wishes for the Japanese Earthquake"; organizing press conferences to introduce the launch of student learning materials; and publishing numerous articles showcasing the University's image in the media. Through these activities, the brand image of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities is gradually being affirmed and promoted more widely both domestically and internationally.
Regarding the Center's future development direction, Mr. Pham Dinh Lan, Director of the Center for Information and Communication Studies, stated: "In addition to creating a practical learning environment right in the classroom, through the facilities invested by the University and the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, promoting the image of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular and the Vietnam National University, Hanoi in general is also one of the Center's key tasks in the coming time."
In addition to reporting on the school's activities, the Center will focus on enhancing the number of articles and images featuring the profiles of outstanding scientists and educators of the school, as well as former students who are currently holding important positions in society.
In addition, the Center is also conducting research, improvements, and upgrades to the new website interface. The version under development aims for a user-friendly yet modern design, simple yet rich in informational content, creating an optimal information space for students, trainees, the public, and external media when they want to learn about and access information about the University.
