“Comprehensive Korean Textbook for Vietnamese (Elementary)” is compiled for Vietnamese people who want to learn Korean at the elementary level. This book aims to improve the comprehensive communication skills of Vietnamese people learning Korean through cultivating basic expressions and structures, practicing applied exercises with diverse activities, and learning about Korean culture needed in communication situations. Accordingly, this book has been compiled to be used effectively in Vietnamese universities based on accumulated experiences as well as the basic principles of compiling Korean textbooks that are being researched in Korea as well as in the world during the time and through referring to the Korean education program in Vietnam. Above all, this textbook is compiled to suit Vietnamese people through the effective use of practical data and accumulated experience in the process of Korean language education for Vietnamese people in the past time, as well as analyzing and reflecting the Korean language learning strategy of Vietnamese people. To help those who self-study Korean outside of university, this textbook also provides specific explanations and diverse exercises to help learners learn by themselves.

“Comprehensive Korean Textbook for Vietnamese (Elementary)” thoroughly applies the latest textbook compilation methods and principles that are being researched in foreign language education methods recently. That is the basic principle in the educational method focusing on communication skills. At the same time, this textbook is also compiled and applied many diverse methods to help Vietnamese people learn effectively. The main compilation principle used in this textbook is the comparative linguistic approach between Korean and Vietnamese, taking the learner as the center of the educational process, focusing on practicing applied exercises, practical materials, increasing flexibility in actual use, focusing on systematic education applying the synthesis of four communication skills, and a comprehensive approach to language and culture. In addition, this textbook also aims at convenience in learning by systematizing specific vocabulary, grammar structures, application exercises and skills, distinguishing by topic and level; each level has a test step to help learners identify what they have learned; issuing accompanying listening practice CDs. In addition, this textbook is compiled to be able to be used in Korean language classes at universities, so each lesson is divided into many parts such as: basic theory including vocabulary and grammar structures, communication skills practice according to the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation practice, cultural learning...; topics, application exercises and skills are all arranged systematically and closely related to each other. Along with this textbook, supporting workbooks are also compiled to help learners review more thoroughly and practice advancedly when necessary.

“Korean Textbook for Vietnamese (Elementary)” is built with 30 lessons and an alphabet section. In which, book 1 includes the alphabet section and the first 15 lessons, book 2 includes the following 15 lessons. The overall structure of the textbook is built according to topics; each topic is consistently linked with a system of basic vocabulary and grammar structures, application exercises, skills and cultural understanding.

The course also includes a CD containing necessary listening materials for learning lessons, practicing skills and practicing pronunciation; there is an accompanying workbook with application exercises for learners to review effectively.
