Overcoming initial awkwardness and adapting to a new environment.
Nguyen Thi Thuy is a familiar name, having previously appeared in the "Student Faces" section of Tien Phong newspaper, showcasing her outstanding achievements as the top-scoring student in the entrance exam for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Currently, she is studying Public Relations, achieving numerous outstanding accomplishments and receiving scholarships for two consecutive semesters.
As a freshman, upon entering the vibrant and dynamic university environment, Thuy shared that, like other freshmen, she felt bewildered upon arriving in a new place where everything was a first for her. University is a professional environment, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a place where bright individuals with enthusiastic learning and training spirits converge; the learning methods are completely new, the amount of knowledge is enormous, and the academic requirements are higher than in high school. With excitement and a thirst for learning, Thuy felt no anxiety but rather saw this as an opportunity and a new, exciting experience.

However, Thuy still faced some difficulties adapting to the new environment, especially the new learning methods and subjects, many of which were unrelated to her high school curriculum. To overcome this challenge, she proactively learned from friends and teachers, actively participated in extracurricular activities, and continuously improved her knowledge, shortening her difficult period as much as possible.
In addition, Thuy always maintains an optimistic spirit and constantly strives for improvement. She regularly plans her studies, reviews lessons frequently, and actively participates in class discussions. Thuy also shared that she always maintains a proactive attitude and believes in herself, which is a crucial factor in helping her overcome all challenges.

Secrets to effective learning that will overcome any challenge.
Sharing her study secrets, Thùy said that the most important factors are diligence, a systematic approach, and maintaining an optimistic spirit. She regularly plans her studies, breaking down goals into manageable parts, reviewing lessons frequently, and actively participating in class discussions. Thùy's study method is based on the school's grading criteria: firstly, actively participating in class discussions; secondly, doing well on group assignments and midterm exams; and finally, dedicating time to thoroughly preparing for the final exam. She doesn't miss a single moment of precious time in the classroom, taking notes on important points and summarizing them after class, thoroughly researching them through textbooks and reference materials. Thùy believes that learning shouldn't be limited to textbooks but should involve actively acquiring knowledge from various sources, honing critical thinking skills, and applying that knowledge to real-world situations. In addition, Thùy dedicates time to learning extracurricular subjects to supplement her studies, develop soft skills, and participate in extracurricular activities for holistic personal development.
For Thuy, academics are her top priority. She finds that extracurricular activities at university don't restrict her study time; on the contrary, they are a learning method. Thuy says that by participating in a club, she hones basic communication, teamwork, and time management skills, while also gaining connections and knowledge from those who have gone before her. Currently, she remains actively involved in the SOL Art Club.

Golden advice
Thuy shared that the biggest lesson she learned after her first year was that she shouldn't be complacent or relax after getting into university, but should be serious from the very first moment because these four years will determine a very large part of her life afterward. She is very confident in herself, constantly learning, training, and interacting with many new things and talented people, and is not afraid to face challenges.
Thuy also advised the students to boldly integrate into the new environment, not be afraid of difficulties, and always believe in themselves. They should proactively learn, improve their knowledge and soft skills to achieve success in their studies and life. Importantly, they must have a receptive attitude, avoid arrogance after their achievements, and boldly learn from the experiences of those who came before them.
She never boasts about her achievements, calmly learning but also being dynamic. Her philosophy is: "Every experience is valuable, even if the way we receive it is a little clumsy; it's all a lesson that helps us grow and mature."

Through her tireless efforts, Thùy aims to become a journalist working in the military or the People's Police. Besides her own hard work, she considers herself fortunate to have had the opportunity to interact with many other top-performing students or those with outstanding academic achievements. She has learned that the most important thing is diligence, selective and flexible learning, followed by knowing how to seize opportunities and seize the right moments for personal growth.
