The "Collecting Instant Noodle Packaging" project started in early April, when the whole country was implementing social distancing measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The activity is part of the "My Class Volunteers" initiative, part of the "My Class is Number One" competition organized by the Student Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), targeting students and faculty members, and specifically aimed at environmental protection.
Each individual who collects 10 empty instant noodle packets within the specified time will receive a certificate for fulfilling the "Good Volunteer" criterion in the "5 Good Students" criteria set.
Realizing that the hoarding of food, instant noodles, rice, canned goods, etc., would release waste into the environment—such as noodle packaging, rice bags, soda cans, and various types of newspaper—the group came up with the idea of collecting and recycling them.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thao, Vice President of the Student Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, said: "This is one of the volunteer activities of the Student Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi). Each individual who collects 10 instant noodle wrappers within the specified time will be awarded a certificate for fulfilling the 'Good Volunteer' criterion in the '5 Good Students' criteria."
After collecting the instant noodle wrappers from the students, they will be sorted.
The aim is to protect the environment and promote a positive image of union members and students through practical and relatable volunteer activities, creating a green, clean, and beautiful environment.
The activity was enthusiastically received by students and faculty members.
As part of the "My Class is Number 1" series of activities in 2020, with the theme "Waste or Throw Away?", the program, in collaboration with the "Recycling Heroes" project, aims to raise awareness about environmental protection and change students' behavior to create a clean and friendly living environment.
Representatives from the Student Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities provided information about the activities to the students.
Additionally, recycled products made from instant noodle packaging by hearing-impaired children will be sold to raise funds for environmental protection. These funds will be used to plant trees, sustain recycling activities, organize environmental seminars and events, and conduct awareness campaigns.

Although still in its early stages, the project has received a positive response from many students who support a green lifestyle. Along with a series of events and seminars on environmental issues, climate change, and green living, this activity is expected to contribute to spreading awareness, connecting, and developing a growing network of environmental protection among students at Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
