Choose a field of study that matches your strengths and passions.
Phuc Trang shared that when she learned she had won second prize in the national excellent student competition, she was very hesitant about choosing a field of study: "Since high school, I've felt I had a bit of a talent for learning foreign languages. Besides English, I love Korean and have a passion for exploring and learning about the culture of Vietnam and other countries around the world."
Trang thoroughly researched the Korean Studies program at the Faculty of Oriental Studies and learned that this program not only focuses on the language but also allows students to learn more about the people, history, and culture of South Korea. "Currently, in the trend of globalization, language skills are extremely important, but I believe that to go further, one needs in-depth professional knowledge and understanding of the countries and people of other nations. Therefore, I decided that the Faculty of Oriental Studies at USSH was my first choice and number one priority when applying for university admission," Trang shared.
"The more I studied, the more I realized I had chosen the right major and specialization, one that I would be committed to not only during my four years of university but for a long time to come. Therefore, I studied with great passion and determination."

Study hard, play hard.
With academic achievements that many students dream of, and being a very prominent figure in student union activities, Phuc Trang shares a very simple secret: Study seriously and diligently, but also know how to "play," actively participating in extracurricular activities to improve yourself.
In her first year, Trang was quite worried, especially about getting used to a completely new language like Korean. But Trang created a study plan for herself, with very clear deadlines, and she did everything she could to achieve them, never looking for excuses to procrastinate. "And luckily, here, I have very talented and dedicated teachers who have supported me and inspired my passion for exploring new knowledge, so the lessons have become very engaging," Trang said.
"The biggest surprise was that in our first year, we had the opportunity to meet and interact with many leading Korean corporations and businesses in Vietnam. This not only helped students improve their language skills but also provided practical opportunities, internships, attractive jobs, and valuable scholarships. My principle is to be proactive in researching and seizing opportunities so as not to miss any. Therefore, my Korean improved very quickly, not only from studying textbooks but also from those opportunities to communicate directly," Trang shared.
Despite dedicating seriousness and investing time and effort in excelling in her studies, Cap Trong Phuc Trang still regularly participates in all extracurricular activities of the Department of Oriental Studies.
Phuc Trang said that students are free to nurture and develop their own interests and passions, as the school has 24 clubs ranging from sports, dance, singing, arts, and MCing: "Even in my department of Oriental Studies, there are many meaningful and interesting clubs and organizations. Therefore, I also participate in the activities of the department and my faculty... It is these moments of giving my all to my passion that have made me increasingly connected, loving, empathetic, and sharing."

Phuc Trang played her role very professionally in a cultural performance by Korean Studies students at the "Oriental Night" event of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

Applying knowledge to practice.
In recent days, Cap Trong Phuc Trang has also become widely known among USSH students for another role: the owner of a TikTok channel that attracts thousands of followers.
"Actually, my TikTok channel was only created a little over two months ago. Before, I wanted to create content that would allow me to immediately apply my knowledge to real-world situations, helping me improve my skills and knowledge while also helping others. However, with a tight study schedule, and the need to improve my Korean language skills and gain a solid understanding, I only started working on it then," Trang said.
During her studies and research, Phuc Trang learned that many students and young people in Vietnam struggle with Korean language exams, and many Vietnamese workers who want to study or work in Korea lack information. Therefore, Trang wants to share her learning methods and exam preparation techniques to help them pass the exam and reduce the initial confusion for those planning to work and live in a foreign country.
By applying the knowledge and skills she learned to her favorite job of producing short videos about the Korean language, Phuc Trang feels that she has learned many new things, become more confident, and built many new relationships, especially with friends who share her love for the Korean language and South Korea.
Phuc Trang emphasized: "In my opinion, when learning Korean or any foreign language, if you only learn from textbooks and just focus on 'reciting lessons,' you will never be able to confidently use it fluently. Therefore, you need to apply the knowledge you've learned to real-life situations, taking advantage of every opportunity to listen to and speak the foreign language."
