University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi

In the context of globalization and deep international integration, creating a practical learning environment for students is one of the top priorities. From July 1st to July 15th, 2026, a delegation of 48 students from the K68 cohort, majoring in Thai Studies and Southeast Asian Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), successfully completed their internship at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. The trip, led with dedication by Ms. Tran Thi Quynh Trang and Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, provided invaluable lessons in both knowledge and life skills.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1976–2026), on July 17, 2026, the Asian Center, University of the Philippines (UP), in collaboration with the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH), organized an online forum themed “Philippines – Vietnam: Neighbors in Dialogue”. The event brought together scholars, lecturers, and researchers from both countries to exchange views on the past, present, and prospects of Vietnam-Philippines relations in the context of a rapidly changing regional and global environment.

From July 12th to 17th, 2026, a delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (USSH), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam - Vice Rector of the University, participated in the final round of the 10th Youth Innovation Competition on Lancang-Mekong Region's Governance and Development (YICMG 2026) at Wuhan University, China.

The study and experience trip of the group of students majoring in Chinese Studies, Department of Oriental Studies, at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, Hubei Province, from June 28 to July 11, 2026, has officially concluded with resounding success.

Unlike simply learning the Korean language, Korean Studies views language as a tool for learners to access, analyze, and gain a deeper understanding of a country within its broader cultural, social, economic, and political context.

From June 22nd to July 3rd, 2026, a delegation of students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, participated in an experiential learning and cultural exchange program in Nanning City, Guangxi Province, China. This program was a meaningful activity, contributing to strengthening academic exchange, cultural experiences, and promoting educational cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and educational institutions in China.

On the afternoon of May 2nd, 2026, a delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, led by Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector, along with faculty and students from the Japanese Studies department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, attended a policy speech at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, as part of the official visit of Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae to Vietnam.

(GDVN) In the context of deep integration, regional studies/country studies are increasingly popular. Among them, Oriental studies has become an attractive choice, drawing a large number of candidates due to its high applicability and wide range of job opportunities.

In 2025, the Research Talk series, jointly organized by the Faculty of Linguistics, Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies and the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, attracted a large number of lecturers, students from USSH, and international scientists. With 15 regularly held seminars covering diverse topics and approaches, Research Talk has gradually shaped an open academic space where theoretical and practical issues in social sciences and humanities research are discussed in depth, interdisciplinaryly, and in relation to international scientific issues.

From January 7-10, 2026, the Faculty of Linguistics, Vietnamese Language & Vietnamese Studies and the Faculty of Oriental Studies had a field trip to Khon Kaen University, Thailand.

On December 27-28, 2025, the Japanese Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, successfully organized a "Career Guidance Exchange" program in Ba Vi, Hanoi. The program involved 93 students, along with lecturers and researchers from the Japanese Studies department, and was sponsored by the Toshiba International Foundation.

Sponsored by the Toshiba International Foundation (TIFO), from December 9-13, 2025, a delegation of 14 Japanese Studies students, along with their supervisor, Dr. Nguyen Phuong Thuy, and PhD candidate Nguyen Thi Thuy Ngan, were present in Vientiane, Laos, to attend the 9th International Conference organized by the Japan Studies Association of Southeast Asia (JSA).

Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) emphasized that the 30-year journey of the Faculty of Oriental Studies has completed its historical mission, "now it is time for us to together create a new direction of development based on three strategic pillars."

Within the framework of the "Vietnam-Korea Youth Cultural Exchange Program on Zen Meditation and the East Asian Youth Cultural Exchange Day on Zen Meditation 2025," students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (USSH) participated in many meaningful activities with Korean students.
