From October 21-25, 2026, a delegation of faculty and students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, participated in the "Learning Journey on Revolutionary History in China" program for Vietnamese youth in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China.

The 2025-2026 academic year marks the fourth year of operation for the project “Korean Studies in the Northern Vietnam: Sharing and Development” – a Korean Studies seed project at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Throughout this journey, the project continues to aim at supporting training, promoting scientific research, and enhancing academic exchange, contributing to building a favorable learning and research environment for undergraduate and graduate students in the field of Korean Studies.

On October 23rd, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), in collaboration with the Japan Foundation in Vietnam, successfully organized the International Scientific Conference “Japanese Studies Towards a New Era in Vietnam-Japan Relations”. The event not only marked the proud 30th anniversary of the formation and development of Japanese Studies but also opened up practical directions to improve the quality of training and research to an international level in the new context.

VOV.VN - To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Japanese Studies department at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnamese and international experts proposed improving the quality of training, increasing practical experience for students, expanding research cooperation, and meeting the requirements of developing Vietnam-Japan relations in the new era.

On October 3, 2026, over 1,500 students, lecturers, and representatives from 19 Korean language and Korean studies training institutions gathered at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi for the Hangeulnal 2026 Korean Alphabet Festival. From knowledge competitions and talent shows to cultural experiences, the festival became a meeting point for the Korean language learning community, while also expanding educational and academic connections between training institutions in Vietnam and Korea.

On the afternoon of September 26th, the final round of the National Korean Speaking Contest - Korean Ambassador's Cup 2026 took place, featuring outstanding contestants selected from the semi-final rounds in the North and South regions.

Through years of effective collaboration in connecting training with practice, the Chinese Studies major – Faculty of Oriental Studies and Qisda Vietnam Co., Ltd. have maintained a strong partnership through practical career guidance activities. To help students proactively access the real-world work environment, broaden their career perspectives, and strengthen their preparation before graduation, the annual company visit program continues to be organized.

From September 14th to 20th, 2026, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) was honored to welcome a delegation of lecturers and 20 students from Christ University (Bengaluru, India) for a visit, exchange, and participation in the "Project-Based Learning and Cultural Experience Program - PBL". This series of activities not only provided profound academic value but also strengthened cultural exchange between the young generations of Vietnam and India.

From July 23rd to August 7th, 2026, two students, Vu Thi Lan Anh and Nguyen Thi The Ngoc, representing the Japanese Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, embarked on an inspiring learning and experiential journey at the Kyoto Summer Program 2026, organized by Kyoto University and sponsored by the Japan Foundation (JF).

On August 26, 2026, an international scientific conference on the theme “Five Decades of Thailand-Vietnam Diplomatic Relations: History, Society, Culture, and Cooperation” was held at Thammasat University (Tha Prachan Campus), Thailand. This significant event was organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand. Simultaneously, the conference organizers also solemnly launched a book of the same name, marking an important milestone in academic cooperation between the two countries.

From August 10th to 16th, 2026, students from Kyoto Sangyo University (KSU) and students from the Japanese Studies department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) participated in a field trip, exchange program, and research visit to Mai Phu commune, Ha Tinh province.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Head of the Department of Oriental Studies and lecturer at King Sejong Institute Hanoi 1, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, was awarded the Best Teacher Award (최우수상) at the Outstanding Teacher Competition within the framework of the 2026 Global Korean Language Education Conference, held on July 16, 2026, in Seoul, South Korea. She is one of two teachers to receive this award – the second highest award in this year's competition.

On the afternoon of August 14, 2026, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) welcomed a delegation of faculty, staff, and students from the Institute of Geography and Planning, Nanning Normal University (南宁师范大学地理科学与规划学院) for a visit and working session at the university.

On July 30, 2026, a delegation from VNU-USSH, led by Dr. Pham Hoang Hung (Head of the Faculty of Oriental Studies) and Dr. Pham Hoang Giang (Head of the Faculty of Philosophy and Management), visited and worked with partners at Yunnan University and Yunnan Normal University (China) to promote cooperation in training and scientific research.

In the context of globalization and deep international integration, creating a practical learning environment for students is one of the top priorities. From July 1st to July 15th, 2026, a delegation of 48 students from the K68 cohort, majoring in Thai Studies and Southeast Asian Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), successfully completed their internship at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. The trip, led with dedication by Ms. Tran Thi Quynh Trang and Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, provided invaluable lessons in both knowledge and life skills.
