Opening the event, the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Associate Professor Bui The Duy, emphasized the special significance of Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's visit. He affirmed that Vietnam National University, Hanoi is a leading academic center in Vietnam, playing a role in connecting knowledge and leading innovation, while also having extensive cooperation with Japanese partners. In the future, Vietnam National University, Hanoi aims to expand cooperation in a substantive direction, focusing on cutting-edge technologies such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence, building an innovation ecosystem, and continuing to play a bridging role in promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
In her speech at Hanoi National University, Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae emphasized the long-standing and increasingly deep cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan, from centuries of trade history to their important roles in the current global supply chain. She affirmed that the two countries are expanding cooperation in many advanced fields such as technology, semiconductors, space, and digital transformation, while also working towards building a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" (FOIP) region based on the diplomatic vision proposed by Japan in 2016. The Prime Minister also affirmed that the younger generation will shape this future.

This event once again affirms the important role of Hanoi National University in connecting academia and diplomacy. Facilitating students' participation in high-level diplomatic activities contributes to raising students' awareness of the role of cultural diplomacy and research-education cooperation between Vietnam and the international community, thereby improving the quality of education, expanding opportunities for comprehensive development, and helping students confidently and firmly enter the international environment.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is currently the only institution in Vietnam offering Japanese Studies programs at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, with an interdisciplinary and regional studies orientation. Since 2006, the Department of Japanese Studies (now the Japanese Studies major) has been recognized by the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Japan Foundation as a key institution for Japanese education and research in Vietnam. Annually, the Japanese Studies major receives support from the Japan Foundation and the Toshiba Foundation. In addition, each year, approximately 15-20 students, trainees, and researchers in Japanese Studies receive scholarships to study and conduct research at leading partner universities in Japan such as the University of Tokyo, Senshu University, Showa Women's University, Nara Women's University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and Chuo University.
