University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi

As part of the activities celebrating its 30th anniversary (1995 - 2025), the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, cordially invites faculty members and students to attend a performance of Japanese calligraphy art.

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the tradition and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Hanoi will collaborate with the university to organize a special performance of traditional Iranian music on Monday, October 13, 2025.

This was the theme of the international scientific conference jointly organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the Central Institute of Korean Studies (AKS) - South Korea on the morning of August 29, 2025.

On the afternoon of August 29, 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) held a meeting and working session with representatives from the leadership of Andong National University (now Gyeongkuk National University, South Korea).

Within the framework of the Korean Studies Seed Project, the 6th Scientific Seminar on the theme "Korean Culture and History through the Perspective of Vietnamese Students" was successfully held on August 16, 2025, yielding many profound academic values.

Within the framework of cooperation between Kyoto Sangyo University (KSU, Japan) and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH), three students majoring in Japanese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, participated in a survey on the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program in Mai Phu commune, Ha Tinh province, together with students from Kyoto Sangyo University.

As part of the project "Korean Studies in Northern Vietnam: Sharing and Development," faculty members from the Department of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, provided students of Le Thanh Tong High School (Ha Long, Quang Ninh) with a multifaceted academic and experiential space showcasing Korean cultural identity on August 15, 2025.

This was confirmed at the meeting between the two units on August 4, 2025, at Quy Nhon University.

From July 3rd to 15th, 2025, 27 students from the Department of Southeast Asian Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, were in Chiang Mai, Thailand to participate in an academic exchange and professional internship program. This activity is part of the cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Chiang Mai University.

From June 23-25, 2025, lecturers and scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities participated in and shared their experiences in teaching Korean at the 2025 Training Workshop for Korean Translation and Interpretation Teachers at King Sejong Institute in Vietnam, held in Ho Chi Minh City.

Thao Nhi received a Bachelor's degree with distinction in Korean Studies from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) with a GPA of 3.81/4.0. Her thesis, which received a 9.5 rating, focused on the success of K-pop in the US, with her idol group BTS mentioned as a prime example.

This was the topic discussed at the interdisciplinary academic exchange jointly organized by the Faculty of Linguistics, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, and the Sejong Korean Language Center Hanoi (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-USSH) this morning, June 17, 2025.

The training program in Japan for postgraduate students and researchers in Japanese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, held in mid-February 2025, was not only an opportunity for students and researchers to expand their academic knowledge but also a chance to promote research cooperation between the Department of Japanese Studies and partner universities and many leading research centers in Japan.
