University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi

In the 2012-2013 academic year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities achieved comprehensive results in many areas of activity. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector of the University) summarized the outstanding achievements and outlined the important directions of the University for the upcoming academic year.

Over 1,000 students, among the candidates from more than 30 provinces and cities nationwide, will officially become Bachelor of Science graduates. On this occasion, we are honored to introduce the profiles of 34 graduates who achieved the highest scores in their respective provinces, with distinction and honors.

Professor Nguyen Van Khang (Institute of Linguistics) analyzed and affirmed the scientific contributions of Professor Nguyen Thien Giap in linguistic research through the series of works that were awarded the State Prize for Science and Technology in 2010: "Vietnamese Lexicology" (1985) and "Words and Word Identification in Vietnamese" (1996).

On the occasion of the posthumous awarding of the Ho Chi Minh Prize to the late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong by the State on February 18, 2012, USSH respectfully presents an article by Professor Phan Huy Le on the life and research of Professor Tran Quoc Vuong on Hanoi. This article also serves as an introduction to the book "On the Sacred Land of a Thousand Years of Culture - a collection of writings on the culture of Thang Long - Hanoi by Professor Tran Quoc Vuong," published by Hanoi Publishing House, 2010.

Among the 12 Ho Chi Minh Prizes and 20 State Prizes for science and technology awarded this time, the Faculty of History received two: one Ho Chi Minh Prize for the collection of works on Vietnamese culture by the late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong, and one State Prize for the work "Thang Long - Hanoi in the 17th, 18th, and 19th Centuries" by Associate Professor Nguyen Thua Hy. This is the 5th Ho Chi Minh Prize and the 4th State Prize that the faculty members of the Faculty of History have been honored to receive from the State.

Currently, there is still confusion regarding the choice of spelling in Vietnamese (Quốc ngữ script).i shortandlongIn some cases, specifically when the /i/ sound acts as the main vowel in an open syllable (without a final consonant) following the consonants /h, k, l, m, s, t/. Therefore, two spellings still exist.

Immediately after President Ho Chi Minh signed the Decree (October 10, 1945) establishing the Faculty of Literature, higher education administrators demonstrated a timely understanding of the training trends of the era and knew how to gradually adapt and apply them effectively, in accordance with the realities of the country at the time of the successful August Revolution. This can be clearly seen in the Decree.⁽¹⁾November 3, 1945, document from the Ministry of National Education regarding the regulations on training programs and training methods at the Faculty of Literature.⁽³⁾To commemorate the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Literature in Hanoi, we attempt to outline the educational philosophy of higher education during that period, its vision of integration, and its significance for today.

USSH— Given the fact that ASEM lacks clear geographical criteria for new members, the author of this article questions the development trends of ASEM and seeks answers by analyzing the challenges to the organization's expansion.
