This morning, November 28, 2008, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held the opening ceremony for the 2008 postgraduate training course.
This year, 959 candidates registered to take the entrance exam for 26 postgraduate programs and 17 doctoral programs. After two rounds of admissions, 566 candidates were admitted to postgraduate programs and 51 to doctoral programs, including 137 postgraduate students who transferred from undergraduate programs, 3 doctoral students who transferred from undergraduate programs, and 3 doctoral students who transferred from master's programs.
At the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Lam Ba Nam - Vice Rector - introduced the students to the current state of postgraduate training and the university's major orientations in postgraduate teaching and training in the coming time. Accordingly, since 2007, the university has begun implementing a credit-based postgraduate training system. To date, a large amount of work required by the credit-based training process has been basically completed: converting 26 master's programs, 29 doctoral programs, compiling nearly 1000 course syllabi, developing academic regulations, etc.
Furthermore, expanding collaborative training programs with numerous universities and research institutes both domestically and internationally has been a focus in recent years. Since 2007, in collaboration with the University of Toulouse le Mirail (France) and the Francophone University Organization, two international joint training programs have been implemented: Master's in Organizational Management and Master's in Child and Adolescent Developmental Psychology. In addition, the university has now opened a Master's program in Hotel Management in partnership with the Accor hotel group (France) – a model combining the university and businesses in training high-quality human resources to meet the practical needs of society.
With the approval of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the School is also conducting enrollment and training in internationally recognized programs and specializations such as the Master's and Doctoral programs in Vietnamese History. To further build upon its achievements, the School needs the efforts and enthusiasm of its postgraduate students in their studies and in building the school, as mature, intelligent, and highly creative learners.
Following the opening ceremony, starting on December 1st, 2008, postgraduate students will begin studying Philosophy in general classes.
