Professor Nicholas Tarling was a lecturer in History at the University of Auckland from 1968 to 1996 and a member of the University of Auckland's Asia Institute in New Zealand. He has published numerous books and research papers on Southeast Asian history and is the editor of the renowned book series.Cambridge History of Southeast Asia(2 volumes).
In addition, the presentation was attended by His Excellency the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand to Vietnam - Dr. James Kember - and three researchers in history and development science from the University of Auckland: Dr. Ken Jackson, Dr. Charles Johnston, and Dr. Xin Chen.
