The aim of the course is to help students gain a better understanding of the use of multiple methods in writing history. In addition to traditional historical research methods, the course will emphasize the special importance of reading archival documents, discussing Archaeology, Anthropology and map research. The class is held once a week. The language of instruction is Vietnamese.
The course will be held at the EFEO Office (No.5A Ha Hoi Hamlet, Hanoi). Lecturers include Andrew Hardy (History), Nguyen Tien Dong (Archaeology), Vu Thi Minh Huong (History, Archives), Dao The Duc and Hoang Cam (Anthropology), Federico Barocco (Archaeology, Cartography) and several other experts.

Candidates must be university graduates, master's students, first-year PhD students majoring in History or history-related fields. We encourage candidates with training in Historical Linguistics and Historical Archaeology. Knowing how to use a foreign language in Vietnamese historical research (French, Sino-Nom, English, ethnic minorities, other) will be an advantage.
