Citizens of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam who meet all the conditions specified in the Regulations on postgraduate training at Vietnam National University, Hanoi issued under Decision No. 4668/QD-VNU dated December 10, 2014 of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the Regulations on postgraduate training at Vietnam National University, Hanoi issued under Decision No. 1555/QD-VNU dated May 25, 2011, amended and supplemented under Decision No. 3050/QD-VNU dated September 17, 2012 of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

II. Conditions for admission to master's training
Candidates applying for the master's program must fully meet the following conditions:
1. About the degree
a) Graduated from university with the correct major, major suitable for the major, major registered for the exam. Those who graduated from university with a good grade or higher in the correct/suitable major for the major registered for the exam can take the exam in the year of university graduation.
b) Graduated from university in a major close to the major registered for the exam,learned additional knowledgeas prescribed;
c) University graduates in other majors afterlearned additional knowledgeAccording to regulations, you can apply for admission to the following master's training majors:Journalism (applied orientation); Social work (applied orientation); Public policy; Tourism; Office Administration; Science and Technology Management; Film and Television Theory, History and Criticism; Religious Studies (Applied Orientation)
d) University degrees granted by foreign educational institutions must be accompanied by a document of recognition from the Department of Testing and Educational Quality Assessment, Ministry of Education and Training.

2. About professional work experience:
a)Have at least 01 year experienceworking in the field of exam registration (from the date of signing the Decision on university graduation recognition to the exam date), except for those with a university degree of Good or higher, in the correct or suitable field for the majors registered for the exam:Journalism, Public Policy, Library Information Science, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, World History, Vietnamese History; Office Administration and Tourism
b)Have at least 02 years of experienceWorking in the field of exam registration (from the date of signing the decision to recognize university graduation to the exam date) for those with a university degree in some other fields registering to take the exam for a master's degree program:Public policy; Tourism; Office Administration, Science and Technology Management, Religious Studies (applied orientation)
3. Have a clear personal history, not currently serving disciplinary action at the warning level or higher and not currently serving a criminal sentence, confirmed by the human resources management agency where they are working or the local authority where they reside.
4. Be healthy enough to study.
III. Priority policies in admission.
1. Candidates who are given priority in admission are the following:
- Candidates who have worked continuously for 2 years or more (as of the deadline for submitting application documents) in localities defined as Region 1 (according to the current national high school enrollment area division table of the Ministry of Education and Training). In this case, candidates must have a decision to accept work or transfer or second work from a competent agency or organization;
- Ethnic minorities with permanent residence registration for 2 years or more (as of the application deadline) in localities designated as Area 1 in the current regulations on regular university and college admissions;
- War invalids, people enjoying policies like war invalids;
- Martyr's child;
- Hero of the armed forces, hero of labor;
- Children of resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals, recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as having deformities, disabilities, and reduced ability to self-reliant in daily life and study due to the consequences of toxic chemicals.
2. Priority subjects: must have sufficient valid supporting documents according to regulations of Hanoi National University.
3. Priority level:Candidates who are in priority groups (including those who are in multiple priority groups) will have 10 points added to their exam results for the foreign language subject (on a 100-point scale) if they are not exempt from the foreign language exam and 1 point (on a 10-point scale) added to their basic exam or 15 points (on a 150-point scale) added to their exam results for the competency assessment exam.

2. Foreign language:
Candidates take the test in one of five languages: English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, in the form of multiple choice. For Asian Studies major, in addition to the five languages above, candidates can register to take the Korean language test.

*Candidates whose foreign language proficiency meets the foreign language exam requirements of the training unit and fall into one of the following cases are exempted from the foreign language exam:
- Have a university, master's or doctoral degree from a full-time training program abroad, and have the degree recognized by a competent authority according to current regulations;
- Have a university degree in an advanced program according to the Project of the Ministry of Education and Training on advanced training programs at some universities in Vietnam or a high-quality engineering degree (PFIEV) recognized by the engineering degree committee (CTI, France), with a foreign partner to jointly grant the degree or a university degree in an international standard training program, a talent training program, a high-quality training program of VNU;
- Have a university degree in foreign languages.
- Have a foreign language proficiency certificate equivalent to the levels of the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam: level 3 for VNU-Hanoi standard master's degree training programs, level 4 for international joint master's degree programs awarded by VNU, level 5 for international standard master's degree training programs. The certificate is valid for 2 years from the date of the foreign language certificate exam to the date of registration for the master's degree exam and is issued by an institution recognized by VNU.(seeAppendix3and Appendix4). The Admissions Councils send foreign language certificates issued by foreign organizations of candidates to the University of Foreign Languages to have the authenticity of the certificates assessed before recognizing equivalence (if necessary).
V. Application form:
In 2018, registration for the master's entrance exam at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was conducted online. The registration software was developed by the Center for Information Technology Application, VNU and is used uniformly throughout VNU.
Candidate's duties:
- Access the VNU postgraduate admissions portal and register for the exam online according to the instructions. Candidates must commit and be responsible for the truthfulness of the declared information. Registration time:from 8:00 a.m. January 21, 2018 to 5:00 p.m. April 6, 2018.

- Pay full admission fee as prescribed.
Note:
-Candidates who do not register online will not be eligible to take the entrance exam..
-Candidates for Master's degree submit their application after receiving the admission results and admission notice.
-The School's Graduate Admissions Council will consider canceling the candidate's admission results if the registration information is inconsistent with the admission documents and does not meet the exam standards.

II. Conditions for admission to doctoral training.
Candidates applying to the doctoral training program of Hanoi National University must fully meet the following conditions:
1) Have a clear personal history and are not currently being prosecuted for criminal liability.
2) Meet one of the following requirements regarding diploma, published works and foreign language proficiency:
2.1 About the degree:
- Have a regular university degree in the right major with honors or higher, or a master's degree in the right major/specialization, a suitable major/specialization, or a major/specialization close to the major/specialization applied for.
List of appropriate/suitable majors and nearby majors for graduate student recruitment (see Appendix 5)
2.2 About published works:
Within 03 years (36 months) from the date of application, be the author or co-author of at least 01 article in a specialized scientific journal or 01 scientific report published in the proceedings of national or international scientific conferences or seminars with peer review, with an ISBN publication code related to the field or research topic, recognized by the council of professors and associate professors of the industry/interdisciplinary. For those who have a master's degree but complete a master's thesis with a study load of less than 10 credits in the master's training program, there must be at least 02 scientific articles/reports.
2.3 About foreign language ability:
Candidates must have one of the following diplomas or certificates proving foreign language proficiency in accordance with the foreign language output standards of the training program approved by Hanoi National University:
- Have a foreign language certificate according to the Reference Table in Appendix 6 issued by an internationally and Vietnamese recognized testing organization within 24 months from the date of the certificate exam to the date of application;
- Bachelor's or Master's degree issued by a foreign educational institution for a full-time training program abroad in a language that is appropriate to the language required by the training program's output standards. Diplomas issued by foreign educational institutions must undergo recognition procedures according to current regulations.
- Have a university degree in foreign languages or foreign language pedagogy suitable for the foreign language according to the output standards of the training program, issued by Vietnamese training institutions.
- In the above cases, if English is not the language, the candidate must be able to communicate in English in a professional manner so that others can understand in English and understand others presenting professional issues in English. The Admissions Council establishes a subcommittee to evaluate the professional English communication ability of candidates in this category.

3) Have a letter of recommendation from at least 01 scientist with the title of professor, associate professor or a doctorate in science or doctorate who has participated in professional activities with the applicant and is knowledgeable about the professional field in which the applicant intends to research. The letter of recommendation must include comments and assessments of the applicant on:
- Ethical qualities, scientific research capacity and attitude, professional qualifications of candidates;
- For scientists who meet the criteria for a PhD student supervisor and agree to be a thesis supervisor, it is necessary to add comments on the urgency and feasibility of the research topic and content; and clearly state the ability to mobilize PhD students for research topics and projects as well as the funding source that can be spent on the PhD student's research activities.
- Other comments and level of support, recommendation of candidates for PhD study.
4) Have a research outline, clearly stating the name of the proposed topic, research field; reasons for choosing the field, research topic; summary of the research situation in that field at home and abroad; research objectives; some main research contents; research methods and expected results; reasons for choosing the training unit; implementation plan during the training period; experiences, knowledge, understanding as well as preparations of the candidate for the doctoral thesis. The outline can propose a supervisor.
5) Seniority conditions:
In addition to the majors: Vietnamese Literature, Folk Literature, Foreign Literature, Han-Nom, which do not require seniority, candidates for the PhD exam must have at least 1 year (for majors: Literary Theory, Psychology, International Relations, Information Science - Library) and 2 years (for other majors) of professional work in the field of the major registered for the exam (calculated from the date of signing the decision to recognize university graduation to the date of admission).
6) Be healthy enough to study.
V.Application documents for postgraduate study include:
1. Exam registration form(as per sample).
2. Self-written CV certified by the management agency or local authority of the place of residence, with photo attached and stamped on the photo.(as per sample)
3. Scientific resume certified by the working agency(as per sample)
4. Certificate of good health for study from a general hospital (valid for 6 months from the date of application submission).
5. Certified copies of the following certificates and diplomas:
- University diploma and full university transcript with confirmation of classification by the competent authority (for candidates applying for doctoral training but do not have a master's degree); master's degree and master's transcript (for candidates applying for doctoral training who already have a master's degree)
- Recruitment or appointment decision (if a civil servant) or long-term labor contract and certificate of seniority.
- Notarized copy of legal documents on priority subjects (if any)
- Proof of foreign language proficiency.(If the candidate has a degree obtained from training abroad, there must be a confirmation document from the Department of Testing and Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education and Training)
6. Letter of introduction to take the exam (if any) from the head of the management agency for those working in state or non-state agencies, units, or enterprises.(as per sample)
7. 02 envelopes issued by the School (when submitting the application) with the candidate's address and 04 3x4cm portrait photos.
8. Research outline, scientific resume and photocopies of published research works.(according to attached form)
9. Letter of recommendation from at least one scientist with the scientific title of Professor, Associate Professor, or the degree of Doctor of Science, PhD in the same major.(as per sample)

Candidates must commit and be responsible for the truthfulness of the declared information. Registration time:from 8:00 a.m.21/01/2018until 17:00 on06/4/2018.
- Submit application directly or by post to the Training Department.before 06/04/2018(Applications submitted by post will be counted according to the post office's confirmation stamp when the application is sent to the School). After the above deadline, no application will be accepted.
- Pay full admission fee as prescribed.

4. Admission score and benchmark score
4.1. Admission score:
- Master's degree admission: To be considered for master's degree, candidates must achieve a score of 5.0 or higher on a 10-point scale in the basic subjects (including bonus points if any) and the foundation; achieve 50 points or higher (on a 100-point scale) in the Foreign Language subject if applying for a master's degree. Candidates applying for a master's degree in Religion by the admission method must have a total score of 50 points or higher in the application evaluation and interview.
Doctoral level admission: Candidates eligible for doctoral level admission must have a total score of 60 points or more in their application and research outline, of which the minimum research outline score must be 25/40 points.
4.2. Benchmark:Determined based on assigned training targets and by calculating the total score of basic and fundamental subjects (except Foreign Languages), the total score of each candidate's professional profile from highest to lowest for each industry and major until the target is reached.
