A.ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Citizens of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam who meet the conditions stipulated in the Regulations on Postgraduate Training at Hanoi National University issued under Decision No. 4668/QD-DHQGHN dated December 10, 2014 by the Director of Hanoi National University and the Regulations on Postgraduate Training at Hanoi National University issued under Decision No. 1555/QD-DHQGHN dated May 25, 2011, amended and supplemented by Decision No. 3050/QD-DHQGHN dated September 17, 2012 by the Director of Hanoi National University.

II. Admission requirements for master's degree programs
Applicants for the master's program must meet all of the following conditions:
1. Regarding qualifications
a) Graduated from university with a major that is relevant or suitable to the major/specialization for which they are applying. Those who graduated from university with a GPA of "Good" or higher in a major that is relevant/suitable to the major/specialization for which they are applying are eligible to take the entrance exam in the same year they graduate from university.
b) Graduated from a university with a major closely related to the field and specialization for which they are applying.have acquired additional knowledge.according to regulations;
c) Graduates from other university disciplines afterhave acquired additional knowledge.According to regulations, applicants can register to apply for master's degree programs in the following fields:Journalism studies (with an applied focus); Social work (application-oriented); Public policy; Tourism; Office Administration; Science and Technology Management; Theory, History and Criticism of Film and Television; Religious Studies (Applied Orientation)
d) University degrees awarded by foreign educational institutions must be accompanied by a recognition document from the Department of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education and Training.

2. Regarding professional work experience:
a)Minimum of 1 year of experience required.Working in the field for which the exam is being registered (from the date of signing the Decision on Recognition of University Graduation to the date of the exam), excluding those with a university degree of "Good" or higher, in the correct or suitable field for the registered majors:Journalism, Public Policy, Library and Information Science, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, World History, Vietnamese History; Office Management and Tourism
b)Minimum of 2 years of experience required.Working in the field of exam registration (from the date of signing the decision recognizing university graduation to the date of the exam) for those with a university degree in other fields registering to take the exam for a master's degree program:Public policy; Tourism; Office Administration, Science and Technology Management, Religious Studies (applied orientation)
3. Possess a clean personal record, not currently under disciplinary action at the level of a warning or higher, and not currently serving a criminal sentence, as confirmed by the human resources department of the current workplace or the local government where the applicant resides.
4. Be in good health to study.
III. Preferential policies in admissions.
1. Candidates who receive priority in admissions belong to the following categories:
- Individuals with at least two years of continuous work experience (as of the application deadline) in localities designated as Zone 1 (according to the current national high school entrance exam zone division table of the Ministry of Education and Training). In this case, the candidate must have a decision on acceptance of employment or assignment/secondment from a competent agency or organization;
- Ethnic minority individuals who have had permanent residence registration for 2 years or more (as of the deadline for submitting application forms) in localities designated as Zone 1 in the current regulations on admission to regular university and college programs;
- War invalids and those receiving benefits similar to war invalids;
- Child of a fallen soldier;
- Heroes of the armed forces, labor heroes;
- Children of resistance fighters who were exposed to chemical toxins, and who are recognized by the provincial People's Committee as having deformities, disabilities, or reduced self-reliance in daily life and studies as a result of chemical toxins.
2. Priority groupsAll required supporting documents must be provided in accordance with the regulations of Hanoi National University.
3. Priority level:Candidates belonging to priority groups (including those belonging to multiple priority groups) will have 10 points added to their foreign language exam score (on a 100-point scale) if they are not exempt from the foreign language exam, and 1 point added to their basic subject exam score or 15 points added to their aptitude test score.

2. Foreign Language Subject:
Candidates take the exam in one of five languages: English, Russian, French, Chinese, or German, in a multiple-choice format. For the Asian Studies major, in addition to the five languages above, candidates may register to take the Korean language exam.

*Candidates whose foreign language proficiency meets the foreign language exam requirements of the training institution and who fall into one of the following categories are exempt from the foreign language exam:
- Possess a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree obtained from full-time study abroad, with the degree recognized by the competent authority in accordance with current regulations;
- Possess a university degree from an advanced program under the Ministry of Education and Training's plan for advanced training programs at some Vietnamese universities, or a high-quality engineering degree (PFIEV) recognized by the Engineering Degree Accreditation Committee (CTI, France), with a foreign partner co-issuing the degree, or a university degree from an internationally standardized training program, a talent training program, or a high-quality training program of Vietnam National University, Hanoi;
- Holds a university degree in a foreign language.
- Possess a foreign language proficiency certificate equivalent to the levels of the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework used in Vietnam: level 3 for standard VNU master's programs, level 4 for international joint master's programs with degrees awarded by VNU, and level 5 for international standard master's programs. The certificate is valid for 2 years from the date of the foreign language exam to the date of registration for the master's entrance exam and must be issued by an institution recognized by VNU.(seeAppendix3and Appendix4)The Admissions Councils send the candidates' foreign language certificates issued by foreign organizations to the University of Foreign Languages for verification of their authenticity before recognizing their equivalence (if necessary).
V. Application documents:
In 2018, registration for the master's entrance exam at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was conducted online. The registration software was developed by the Center for Information Technology Applications, VNU Hanoi, and was used uniformly throughout VNU Hanoi.
Candidate's task:
- Access the VNU Hanoi postgraduate admissions registration portal and register online according to the instructions. Candidates must commit to and be responsible for the accuracy of the information provided. Registration period:From 8:00 AM on January 21, 2018 to 5:00 PM on April 6, 2018.

- Pay the full application fee as required.
Note:
ButCandidates who do not register online will not be eligible to take the entrance exam..
ButCandidates applying for a Master's program should submit their application after receiving their acceptance letter and admission notice.
ButThe University's Postgraduate Admissions Council will consider revoking the admission of candidates if the information provided during the application process is inconsistent with the admission documents and the candidate does not meet the eligibility criteria.

II. Eligibility requirements for doctoral training.
Applicants for doctoral programs at Vietnam National University, Hanoi must meet all of the following conditions:
1) Having a clean personal record and not currently facing criminal prosecution.
2) Meet one of the following conditions regarding qualifications, published works, and foreign language proficiency:
2.1 Regarding qualifications:
- Must possess a regular university degree in the relevant field with a GPA of excellent or higher, or a master's degree in the relevant field/specialization, a suitable field/specialization, or a field/specialization closely related to the field/specialization for which they are applying.

2.2 Regarding published works:
Within the 36 months prior to the application date, applicants must be the author or co-author of at least one article published in a specialized scientific journal or one scientific report published in the proceedings of a peer-reviewed national or international scientific conference or workshop, with an ISBN related to the field or research topic, and recognized by the professorship/associate professorship council of the discipline/interdisciplinary field. For those who already hold a master's degree but completed their master's thesis with less than 10 credits in the master's program, they must have at least two scientific articles/reports.
2.3 Regarding foreign language proficiency:
Applicants must possess one of the following diplomas or certificates demonstrating foreign language proficiency that meets the foreign language output standards of the training program approved by Hanoi National University:
- Possess a foreign language certificate according to the Reference Table in Appendix 6, issued by an internationally and nationally recognized testing organization, valid for 24 months from the date of the exam to the date of application;
- A bachelor's or master's degree awarded by a foreign educational institution for a full-time program abroad, in a language that meets the language requirements and learning outcomes of the program. Degrees awarded by foreign educational institutions must undergo recognition procedures in accordance with current regulations.
- Possess a university degree in a foreign language or foreign language pedagogy that meets the foreign language learning outcomes required by the training program, issued by Vietnamese educational institutions.
- In the above cases, if English is not the language of instruction, applicants must be able to communicate in English in a professional manner, understanding others in English and comprehending others presenting professional issues in English. The admissions committee will establish a subcommittee to assess the professional English communication skills of candidates in this category.

3) A letter of recommendation from at least one scientist holding the title of professor, associate professor, or a doctorate in science or a PhD, who has collaborated professionally with the applicant and is knowledgeable in the field the applicant intends to research. The letter of recommendation must include comments and assessments of the applicant regarding:
- The moral character, abilities and scientific research attitude, and professional qualifications of the applicant;
- For scientists who meet the criteria for supervising doctoral students and agree to act as thesis supervisors, additional comments should be included regarding the urgency and feasibility of the research topic and content; and clearly state the ability to mobilize doctoral students for research topics and projects, as well as the available funding for the doctoral students' research activities.
- Other comments and levels of support and recommendations for the candidate to pursue doctoral studies.
4) A research proposal must be included, clearly stating the proposed research topic, research field; reasons for choosing the research field and topic; a brief overview of the research situation in that field domestically and internationally; research objectives; some key research contents; research methods and expected results; reasons for choosing the training institution; implementation plan during the training period; the candidate's experience, knowledge, understanding, and preparation for conducting the doctoral dissertation. The proposal may also suggest a supervisor.
5) Work experience requirements:
In addition to the following majors: Vietnamese Literature, Folklore, Foreign Literature, and Sino-Vietnamese Studies, which do not require a work experience requirement, candidates for doctoral programs must have at least one year (for Literary Theory, Psychology, International Relations, and Information and Library Science majors) and two years (for other majors) of professional work experience in the field of their chosen major (calculated from the date of graduation to the date of enrollment).
6) Be in good health to study.
V.The application dossier for doctoral studies includes:
1. Examination registration form(following the template).
2. A self-written resume certified by the managing agency or local government where the applicant resides, with a photograph attached and a seal affixed to the photograph.(following the template)
3. Scientific resume certified by the employing agency.(following the template)
4. A health certificate for studying issued by a general hospital (valid for 6 months from the date of application).
5. Certified copies of the following diplomas and certificates, notarized by a state notary:
- University diploma and transcript with certified academic ranking from the competent authority (for doctoral candidates who do not yet have a master's degree); master's degree and master's transcript (for doctoral candidates who already have a master's degree)
- Recruitment or appointment decision (if applicable to government officials) or long-term employment contract and certificate of work experience.
- Certified copy of legal documents proving eligibility for priority consideration (if applicable)
- Proof of foreign language proficiency.(If the candidate has a degree obtained from a foreign institution, they must provide a confirmation document from the Department of Examination and Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education and Training.)
6. Letter of recommendation (if any) from the head of the managing agency for candidates currently working in state-owned or private agencies, units, or enterprises.(following the template)
7. Two envelopes issued by the school (when submitting the application) with the candidate's address already written on them, and four 3x4cm portrait photos.
8. Research proposal, academic resume, and photocopies of published research works.(as per the attached template)
9. A letter of recommendation from at least one scientist with the academic title of Professor, Associate Professor, or Doctor of Science or Doctor of Philosophy in the same field.(following the template)

- Submit your application in person or by mail to the Training Department.before April 6, 2018(Applications submitted by mail will be considered based on the postmark date from the post office upon receipt of the application at the School). After the above deadline, no more applications will be accepted.
- Pay the full application fee as required.

4. Admission scores and cut-off scores
4.1. Admission score:
- Master's degree admissions: To be considered for master's degree admissions, candidates must achieve a score of 5.0 or higher on a 10-point scale in the basic (including bonus points if applicable) and foundational subjects; and a score of 50 or higher (on a 100-point scale) in the Foreign Language subject if applying for a master's degree. For candidates applying for a Master's in Religious Studies through the admissions process, the total score from the application evaluation and interview must be 50 points or higher.
Doctoral admissions: Candidates eligible for doctoral admission must have a total score of 60 points or higher for their application and research proposal, with a minimum score of 25/40 for the research proposal.
4.2. Benchmark scores:The selection process is determined based on the assigned training quota and by calculating the total scores of the basic and foundational subjects (excluding foreign languages), and the total professional profile score of each candidate, from highest to lowest, for each major and specialization until the quota is filled.
