We invite you to submit papers for the conference "Protecting and Promoting the Cultural Values ​​of Maritime and Island Areas".

Over the past decades, maritime and island culture has become a topic of increasing interest to scholars worldwide and in Vietnam. Research results from related scientific disciplines have made positive contributions to guiding and developing strategies for maritime and island economic development, affirming the sovereignty of the countries involved. With this in mind, the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts is organizing the international scientific conference "Protecting and Promoting the Value of Maritime and Island Culture".

*TimeJanuary 5th & 6th, 2015

*LocationNha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province

The main topics of the workshop include:

- Theories and approaches to maritime and island culture.

- Maritime and island culture viewed from both historical and contemporary perspectives.

- Case studies on maritime and island cultures in Vietnam and around the world.

- Cultural exchange, diversity, and the unique identity of the island communities.

- Protecting and promoting the cultural values ​​of the sea and islands in contemporary society.

- The role of maritime and island culture in the sustainable development of maritime and island tourism and in responding to climate change.

We invite scientists and teachers to submit papers for the conference.

*Summary requirements300 words, deadline for submission: October 15, 2014.

*Request for full text: 3,000-5,000, deadline for submission is November 30, 2014.
