We invite you to submit papers for a conference on fundamental and pressing issues concerning ethnic minorities in East Asia and Southeast Asia.

In the context of globalization and international integration, the issue of ethnic minorities in East Asia and Southeast Asia is undergoing new, complex, and unpredictable developments. Therefore, research identifying fundamental and urgent issues concerning ethnic minorities in East Asia and Southeast Asia, and their impact on Vietnam, is a crucial topic requiring attention from the scientific community. The workshop "Fundamental and Urgent Issues Concerning Ethnic Minorities in East Asia and Southeast Asia Today and Their Impact on Vietnam," organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, aims to provide relevant agencies with scientific and practical arguments for planning, reforming, and improving the effectiveness of policies towards ethnic minorities in the coming period.

1.Content:The workshop focused on discussing the following key issues:

(1) Identify and assess the basic issues concerning ethnic minorities in East Asia and Southeast Asia today:Ethnic conflicts; separatist issues; issues guaranteeing the political participation and human rights of ethnic minorities; land issues of ethnic minority communities; cultural issues and cultural transformation of ethnic minorities; religious issues, etc.

(2) Identify and assess the fundamental and urgent issues concerning ethnic minorities in East Asia and Southeast Asia today:Issues of ethnic discrimination; issues of national security and defense, social evils, and crime; issues of social inequality in the development process of ethnic minority communities; issues of ethnic assimilation; issues of migration/exodus; issues of transnational ethnic relations; issues of non-traditional security in ethnic minority areas; issues of economic development and ensuring social welfare in ethnic minority areas (employment, poverty, education, health, environment), etc.

(3)The impact of these issues on Vietnam: Content of impact, methods of impact, subjects and objects of impact, etc.

4. Location: University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

- From August 20th to September 5th, 2017Submit the full report to the Organizing Committee (approximately 10-20 A4 pages, Times New Roman font, Unicode encoding, font size 13).
