II. Conditions for admission to master's training

Candidates applying for the master's program must fully meet the following conditions:

1. About the degree

a) Graduated from university with the correct major, suitable for the major, major registered for the exam;

b) Graduated from university in a major close to the major or major registered for the exam,learned additional knowledgeas prescribed;

c) University graduates in other majors can apply for the following master's training majors:Journalism (applied orientation); Social work (applied orientation); Tourism; Office Administration; Science and Technology Management; Film and Television Theory, History and Criticism; Religious Studies (Applied Orientation)afterlearned additional knowledgeas prescribed;

d) University degrees granted by foreign educational institutions must be accompanied by a document of recognition from the Department of Testing and Educational Quality Assessment, Ministry of Education and Training.

2. About professional work experience:

a)Have at least 01 year of experienceworking in the field of exam registration (calculated from the date of signing the Decision on university graduation recognition to the exam date), except for those with a university degree of Good or higher, in the correct or suitable field for the majors registered for the exam:Journalism, Library Information Science, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, World History, Vietnamese History; Office Administration and Tourism

b)Have at least 02 years of experienceWorking in the field of exam registration (from the date of signing the Decision on university graduation recognition to the exam date) for the following subjects:

+ Have a university degree in some other majors and register to take the entrance exam for master's training major:Tourism; Office Administration, Science and Technology Management, Religious Studies (applied orientation)

3. Have a clear personal history, not currently serving disciplinary action at the warning level or higher and not currently serving a criminal sentence, confirmed by the human resources management agency where they are working or the local authority where they reside.

4. Be healthy enough to study.

III. Priority policies in admission.

1. Candidates given priority in admission are the following:

• People who have worked continuously for 2 years or more (as of the deadline for submitting application documents) in localities defined as Region 1 (according to the current division of national high school enrollment areas of the Ministry of Education and Training). In this case, candidates must have a decision to accept work or transfer or second work from a competent agency or organization;
• Ethnic minorities with permanent residence registration for 2 years or more (as of the application deadline) in localities specified as Area 1 in the current regulations on regular university and college admission;
• War invalids and people enjoying policies like war invalids;
• Martyr's child;
• Hero of the armed forces, hero of labor;
• Children of resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals, recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as having deformities, disabilities, and reduced ability to self-reliant in daily life and study due to the consequences of toxic chemicals.

2. Priority subjects: must have sufficient valid supporting documents according to the regulations of Hanoi National University.

3. Priority level:Candidates who are in priority groups (including those who are in multiple priority groups) will have 10 points added to their exam results for the foreign language subject (on a 100-point scale) if they are not exempt from the foreign language exam and 1 point (on a 10-point scale) added to their basic exam or 15 points (on a 150-point scale) added to their competency assessment exam results.

2. Foreign language:

Candidates take the test in 1 of 5 languages: English, Russian, French, Chinese, German in multiple choice format.

*Candidates whose foreign language proficiency meets the foreign language exam requirements of the training unit and are in one of the following cases are exempt from the foreign language exam:

• Have a university, master's or doctoral degree from a full-time training program abroad, and have the degree recognized by a competent authority according to current regulations;
• Have a university degree in an advanced program according to the Project of the Ministry of Education and Training on advanced training programs at some universities in Vietnam or a high-quality engineering degree (PFIEV) recognized by the engineering degree committee (CTI, France), with a foreign partner to jointly grant the degree or a university degree in an international standard training program, a talent training program, a high-quality training program of VNU;
• Have a university degree in foreign languages.

- Have a foreign language proficiency certificate equivalent to the levels of the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam: level 3 for the master's degree training program according to VNU standards, level 4 for the international joint master's degree program with degrees granted by VNU, level 5 for the international master's degree training program according to VNU standards. The certificate is valid for 2 years from the date of the foreign language certificate exam to the date of registration for the master's degree and is issued by an institution recognized by VNU. The Admissions Councils send foreign language certificates issued by foreign organizations of candidates to the University of Foreign Languages ​​for verification of the authenticity of the certificate before recognizing the equivalence (if necessary).

V. Application form:

In 2017, registration for the master's entrance exam at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was conducted online. The registration software was developed by the Center for Information Technology Applications, VNU and is used uniformly throughout VNU.

Candidates' tasks:

- Access the VNU postgraduate admissions portal and register online according to the instructions. Candidates must commit and be responsible for the truthfulness of the declared information. Registration time:from 8:00 a.m.10/7/2017 to 17:00 on11/8/2017.

II. Conditions for admission to doctoral training.

Candidates applying to the doctoral training program of Hanoi National University must fully meet the following conditions:

1) Have a clear personal background and are not currently being prosecuted for criminal liability.

2) Meet one of the following conditions regarding diplomas and published works:

2.1 About diploma:

- Have a bachelor's degree with honors or higher in the right major or a master's degree in the right major, suitable major or a major close to the major applied for;

- Have a master's degree in another major and a regular university degree in the same or similar major as the major applied for. In this case, the candidate must have at leastan article published in a scientific journal or a collection of scientific conference proceedings within 03 years (36 months) from the date of application submissionand must take the exam according to the regime for people without a master's degree.

2.2 Have scientific works (articles or reports) related to the intended research field published in scientific journals or proceedings of specialized scientific conferences and seminars with peer review within 03 years (36 months) from the date of application with the following specific number:

1. For those with a university degree (in the right major with honors or higher) or a master's degree with a research orientation: at least 1 article or report.
2. For those with a master's degree with an applied or practice orientation, or a master's thesis of less than 10 credits: at least 2 articles or reports.

2.3 Have one of the following diplomas or certificates proving foreign language proficiency:

1. A university degree or master's degree issued by a foreign training institution to a full-time student studying abroad whose language of study is English or another foreign language;
2. University degree in foreign languages ​​or foreign language pedagogy issued by Vietnamese training institutions;
3. TOEFL iBT English certificate of 45 or higher or IELTS (Academic Test) certificate of 5.0 or higher issued by an internationally and Vietnamese recognized testing organization within 02 years (24 months) from the date of application;
4. Candidates meet the requirements atitem awhen the language used during the study period is not English; or meets the requirements ofitem bWhen having a university degree in a foreign language or foreign language pedagogy other than English; or having foreign language certificates other than English at equivalent levels (specified in the attached Appendix) as prescribed in section c issued by an internationally and Vietnamese recognized testing organization within 02 years (24 months) from the date of application, must be able to communicate in English in the field of expertise (be able to express issues in the field of expertise for others to understand in English and understand others presenting professional issues in English).

Diplomas issued by foreign educational institutions must undergo recognition procedures according to current regulations.

3) Be recommended by at least two scientists with the title of professor, associate professor or doctorate of science or doctorate in the same major or research field, one of whom is a thesis supervisor. The recommendation letter must include comments and assessments on the candidate's capacity and qualities;

4) The research proposal essay (included in the HSCM) must clearly state the reasons for choosing the research field, the reasons for choosing the training institution, the research objectives, and the implementation plan during the training period. The essay must also state the experiences and professional knowledge that the candidate has prepared and the candidate's planned scientific activities after completing the doctoral training program;

5) Seniority conditions:

In addition to the majors: Vietnamese Literature, Folk Literature, Foreign Literature, Han-Nom, which do not require seniority, candidates for the PhD exam must have at least 1 year (for majors of Literary Theory, Psychology, International Relations, Information Science - Library) and 2 years (for other majors) of professional work in the field of the major registered for the exam (calculated from the date of signing the decision to recognize university graduation to the date of admission).

6) Be healthy enough to study.

V.Application documents for postgraduate study include:

1. Exam registration form(according to the form).

2. CV certified by the management agency or local authority of the place of residence, with photo attached and stamped on the photo.(according to the form)

3. Scientific resume confirmed by the working agency(according to the form)

4. Certificate of good health for study from a general hospital (valid for 6 months from the date of application submission).

5. Certified copies of the following diplomas and certificates:

- University diploma and full university transcript with confirmation of classification by the competent authority (for candidates applying for doctoral training but do not have a master's degree); master's degree and master's transcript (for candidates applying for doctoral training who already have a master's degree)

- Recruitment or appointment decision (if a state official) or long-term labor contract and certificate of seniority.

- Notarized copy of legal documents on priority subjects (if any)

- Proof of foreign language proficiency.(If the candidate has a degree obtained from training abroad, there must be a confirmation document from the Department of Testing and Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education and Training)

6. Letter of introduction to take the exam (if any) from the head of the management agency for those working in state or non-state agencies, units or enterprises.(according to the form)

7. 02 envelopes issued by the School (when submitting the application) with the candidate's address and 04 3x4cm portrait photos.

8. Essay on research plan, scientific resume and photocopies of published research works.

9. Two letters of recommendation from two scientists with the scientific title of Professor, Associate Professor, or the degree of Doctor of Science, PhD in the same field, one of whom will be the thesis supervisor. The recommendation letter must include comments and assessments on the candidate's capacity and qualities.. (according to the form)

4. Admission scores and benchmark scores

4.1. Admission score:To be considered for admission, candidates must score 5 or higher (on a 10-point scale) in basic and fundamental subjects; score 50 or higher (on a 100-point scale) in Foreign Language if applying for a master's degree; have a professional profile assessed at 55 points or higher if applying for a doctoral degree.

4.2. Benchmark:Determined based on assigned training targets and by calculating the total score of basic and fundamental subjects (except Foreign Languages), the total score of each candidate's professional profile from highest to lowest for each industry and major until the target is reached.
