Some key tasks for March 2010

In March 2010, the units of the School continued to implement the tasks of the 2009-2010 academic year in a coordinated manner, completing the following key tasks on schedule:

1. Party work, organization, propaganda, and mass organizations.

- Organize activities to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8th and the founding day of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on March 26th;

- Approved the draft report to be submitted to the 26th Party Congress of the University;

- Introducing the appointment of the Deans of the Departments of International Studies and Philosophy for the term 2010-2015;

- Guiding and organizing the implementation of Decision No. 426, dated January 28, 2010, of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi;

- Launching a high-intensity emulation campaign to celebrate Youth Month.

2. Training, student affairs, quality assurance and inspection.

- Organize supplementary semesters and supplementary exams for the first semester;

- Implement the course registration plan for the first semester;

- Implementing the 2010 university admissions process;

- Continue working on university training programs with relevant units;

- Review the plans for compiling textbooks, lectures, translated materials, and published materials of the units for the 2009-2010 academic year;

- Organize the evaluation of English language lectures for postgraduate students;

- Consider granting scholarships, social assistance, and tuition fee reductions for the second semester of the 2009-2010 academic year for full-time students;

- Organized the first postgraduate entrance examination in 2010 as assigned by Vietnam National University, Hanoi;

- Checking diplomas and certificates for K51.

3. Scientific research and international cooperation:

- Organized the scientific conference "Promoting Korean Studies in Vietnam" and the scientific conference "The Consequences of Psychological Trauma in Victims of Chemical Warfare in the Vietnam War";

- Signed contracts for scientific research projects in 2010;

- Departments/faculties organized the Student Scientific Research Conference for the 2009-2010 academic year;

- Implement joint training programs with Guangxi University and Guangxi Academy of Economics and Finance;

- Develop Vietnamese studies and Vietnamese language programs for short-term training courses for foreigners.

4. Administrative, managerial, and financial work

- Implement the plan for liquidating fixed assets;

- Continue implementing the projects to build classrooms for the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language;

- Prepare the budget estimate for the second quarter of 2010 and get ready to prepare the budget plan for 2011.

5. Several tasks require immediate attention:

- The Party Committee and the Secretaries of the Party branches shall plan and prepare for the organization of the Party branch congresses and pay attention to directing activities during Youth Month of the Youth Union branches and Student Association branches of their respective units.

- The training units organize courses that are prerequisites for graduating students.

- The Training Department should finalize the training plan for several international joint training programs as soon as possible in preparation for implementation.

- The Student Affairs and Services Department has done a good job of publicizing the university's training programs in preparation for the regular undergraduate admissions.

- Heads of units should remind staff and lecturers to be more mindful in the use and management of facilities and equipment in their units and lecture halls.
