From July 29th to August 3rd, 2011, a delegation of staff from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Vice Rector – visited and worked at several universities in the South: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon University, Bac Lieu University, and the Continuing Education Center of Ca Mau province.
From July 29th to August 3rd, 2011, a delegation of staff from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Vice Rector – visited and worked at several universities in the South: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon University, Bac Lieu University, and the Continuing Education Center of Ca Mau province.At the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the two sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest in postgraduate training, research, organizing seminars, and future implementation plans. To date, the two universities have jointly trained four cohorts of postgraduate students in Journalism, International Relations, and Science and Technology Management. At Bac Lieu University, the two sides shared many experiences in training and improving the professional skills and management capabilities of lecturers and management staff, as well as in the articulation and collaboration between different disciplines within the university. In addition to the postgraduate training program in Science and Technology Management in 2011, Bac Lieu University continues to propose joint training in several more disciplines over the next five years. Dr. Dao Hoang Nam (Rector) expressed his desire to develop a comprehensive, long-term plan for postgraduate training cooperation with Bac Lieu University. Also in Bac Lieu, the delegation worked with Mr. Vu Van Hoa (Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee) and Mr. Nguyen Van Ut (Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee). The provincial leaders expressed their interest in strengthening the development of culture and education, and especially in training high-quality human resources for the province. It is known that Bac Lieu University was established in November 2006 and officially began operations on January 1, 2007. Currently, the University is continuing to propose to the Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Education and Training to allow the opening of new academic programs to meet social needs, along with expanding non-formal training programs; and to collaborate with universities nationwide to train postgraduate students in several fields, including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. In addition, the delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities also visited and worked with the Ca Mau Continuing Education Center to discuss cooperation in training part-time students in Journalism, with enrollment scheduled for October 2011. This visit and working session by the delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has further strengthened the cooperative relationship in training and scientific research between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi and universities in the South.
