Information on regular university admissions in 2020

In 2020, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, offered 1,850 places for 31 majors/programs, including two new majors (Korean Studies, Cultural Studies) and one new high-quality program (International Studies - QHX43).

1. Eligibility Criteria

a)Candidates who have graduated from high school or equivalent and whose 2020 high school graduation exam results meet the minimum quality assurance threshold for each combination of subjects/exams used for admission as stipulated by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities are eligible.
b)Candidates holding an international certificate from the Cambridge University Examination Centre, UK (Cambridge International Examinations A-Level, UK; abbreviated as A-Level certificate) meet the regulations of Hanoi National University.
c)Candidates must have achieved results in the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test, USA) standardized test that meet the requirements of Hanoi National University.
d)Candidates must have achieved a score on the ACT (American College Testing) standardized test that meets the requirements of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
e) Candidates with an IELTS certificate of 5.5 or higher, or equivalent foreign language certificates that meet the regulations of Hanoi National University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
g)Candidates eligible for direct admission and priority admission according to the current regulations on regular university admissions of the Ministry of Education and Training and the specific regulations of VNU Hanoi must meet the requirements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
2. Admission methods
a) For candidates applying based on the 2020 high school graduation exam results.
- Admission is based on the results of the 2020 high school graduation exam, according to the subject combinations/tests announced by the University. The admission score is determined for each subject combination/test.
- Candidates can register for an unlimited number of preferences, schools/majors, and must arrange their preferences in order of priority from highest to lowest (preference 1 being the highest priority).
- Candidates are considered equally based on their exam results, regardless of the priority order of their registered preferences, but each candidate will only be admitted to the highest priority preference in their list of registered preferences.
- The admission score for each combination of subjects is the sum of the scores of the exams/subjects on a 10-point scale plus priority points for eligible candidates and regions (if any).
Note:Candidates applying based on high school graduation exam results register their application preferences along with their high school graduation exam registration at the local level.At the high school where students are currently studying (for students graduating in 2020), and at locations where applications are being collected from independent candidates (for students who graduated before 2020).), no application form needs to be submitted to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. - (*) High-quality training programs (Journalism - QHX40, Management Science - QHX41, Information Management - QHX42, International Studies - QHX43):Candidates must ensure that their Foreign Language (English) score in the 2020 National High School Graduation Examination is at least 4.0 (on a 10-point scale) or that they possess equivalent international foreign language certificates as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training and Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

4. Other notes
- Oriental Studies:Since 2020, the Department of Oriental Studies has comprised three specializations: Indian Studies, Thai Studies, and Chinese Studies. After the first semester, the Department of Oriental Studies will assign first-year students to specializations based on their preferences and academic performance in the first semester.
- Simultaneously pursuing two training programs (double degree):
After completing their first year, full-time students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have the opportunity to pursue a second major in one of the following fields:
+ Journalism, Management Science, Tourism and Travel Service Management, Office Management, International Studies, and Psychology majors at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
+ English Language, Korean Language, Japanese Language, and Chinese Language majors at the University of Foreign Languages.
+ Law Department of the Faculty of Law – Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Students who complete the training program in both majors will receive two official bachelor's degrees.
- Regulations regarding foreign languages:
Students in the following majors are required to accumulate credits in English courses (part of the general knowledge block in the training program) to meet the requirements for continuing to study English for Specific Purposes: International Studies, Tourism and Travel Service Management, Hotel Management, Information Management, and Vietnamese Studies.
Students majoring in Sino-Vietnamese Studies are required to study a foreign language (as part of the general knowledge block in the training program), which is Chinese.
+ Students in high-quality training programs(Journalism - QHX40, Management Science - QHX41, Information Management - QHX42, International Studies - QHX43)Learning English is a mandatory foreign language.

+ Standard training programs (excluding Tourism and Travel Service Management and Hotel Management): 980,000 VND/month (9,800,000 VND/year), equivalent to 270,000 VND/credit.
+ Tourism and Travel Service Management, Hotel Management: 1,170,000 VND/month (11,700,000 VND/year), equivalent to 270,000 VND/credit.
+ High-quality training programs (tuition fees commensurate with training quality): 3,500,000 VND/month (35,000,000 VND/year).
