* Topic: The work of a press attaché and stories of working with the Vietnamese press.
Ms. Lisa Wishman will talk about the role of a press officer including the tools and skills needed to convey information, as well as the challenges and opportunities of the Vietnamese media industry. She will also take time to discuss directly with students through a Q&A session.
Ms. Lisa Bess Wishman has been working as Press Attache at the US Embassy since August 2014. She has worked for the US Department of State since 2002. She has worked in Tel Aviv (Israel) and Ottawa (Canada).
Lisa holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. She has been living and working in Vietnam since August 2014 after successfully completing her role as Director of the American Center in Jerusalem. She will end her term in Vietnam in August to take up a new role as Director of the American Center in Jerusalem.
Prior to her service in the U.S. Foreign Service, Lisa lived and volunteered in several countries. She worked in Stockholm, Sweden as a personal secretary to the wife of the U.S. Ambassador and in non-profit activities at the Holocaust Memorial Foundation; worked in Dakar, Senegal, where she helped found and lead a sports organization; coached sports in Lusaka, Zambia; and taught high school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
