Speaker: Lisa Wishman, Press Attaché, U.S. Embassy.
Topic: The work of a press attaché and stories from working with the Vietnamese press.
Lisa Wishman will speak about the role of a journalist, including the tools and skills needed to convey information, as well as the challenges and opportunities in the Vietnamese media industry. She will also dedicate time to a Q&A session with the students.
Lisa Bess Wishman has served as Press Attaché at the U.S. Embassy since August 2014. She has worked at the U.S. Department of State since 2002. She previously worked in Tel Aviv (Israel) and Ottawa (Canada).
Lisa holds a Master's degree in International Affairs from the School of International Relations and Public Service at Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. She has lived and worked in Vietnam since August 2014 after successfully completing her role as Director of the U.S. Center in Jerusalem. She will conclude her term in Vietnam in August to assume a new role as Director of the U.S. Center in Jerusalem.
Prior to serving in the U.S. State Department, Lisa lived and worked in various volunteer fields across many countries. She served as private secretary to the wife of the U.S. Ambassador in Stockholm, Sweden, and participated in non-profit activities at the Holocaust Memorial Foundation. She also worked in Dakar, Senegal, helped establish and lead a sports organization, coached athletes in Lusaka, Zambia, and taught at a high school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
