In particular, the majors of Social Work; Sociology, Psychology, and Clinical Psychology will pilot admission based on the competency assessment method.
I. Contestants
Citizens of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam who meet all the conditions specified in the Regulations on postgraduate training at Vietnam National University, Hanoi issued under Decision No. 4668/QD-DHQGHN dated December 10, 2014 of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the Regulations on postgraduate training at Vietnam National University, Hanoi issued under Decision No. 1555/QD-DHQGHN dated May 25, 2011, amended and supplemented under Decision No. 3050/QD-DHQGHN dated September 17, 2012 of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
II. Conditions for admission to master's training
Candidates applying for the master's program must fully meet the following conditions:
1. About the degree
a, Graduated from university with the right major, suitable for the major and major registered for the exam;
b, Graduated from university in a major close to the major registered for the exam,learned additional knowledgeas prescribed;
c, University graduates in other majors can register to take the entrance exam for master's training in Tourism; Office Administration; Science and Technology Management and Theory, History and Criticism of Cinema and Television afterlearned additional knowledgeas prescribed;
d, University degrees granted by foreign educational institutions must be accompanied by a document of recognition from the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assessment, Ministry of Education and Training.File List of University Admissions Majors
2. About professional work experience:
a, Have at least 01 year of working experience in the field of exam registration (calculated from the date of signing the Decision on university graduation recognition to the exam date) except for those with a university degree of good grade or higher, in the same or suitable major as the major registered for the exam for the following majors: Journalism, Library Information Science, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, World History, Vietnamese History; Office Administration and Tourism
b, Have at least 02 years of working experience in the field of exam registration (calculated from the date of signing the Decision on university graduation recognition to the exam date) for the following subjects:
+ Having a university degree in some other majors, register to take the entrance exam for the master's training program in Tourism; Office Administration and Science and Technology Management
3. Have a clear personal history, not currently serving disciplinary action at the warning level or higher and not currently serving a criminal sentence, confirmed by the human resources management agency where they are working or the local authority where they reside.
4. Be healthy enough to study.
III. Conditions for admission to doctoral training.
Candidates applying for the doctoral training program of Hanoi National University must fully meet the following conditions:
a, Have a clear personal background and are not currently being prosecuted for criminal liability.
b, Satisfy one of the following conditions regarding diplomas and published works:
- Have a research-oriented master's degree or a master's thesis with 10 credits or more in a major that is correct or suitable, or close to the major applied for;
- Have a master's degree in a practical-oriented major that is appropriate or close to the major for which you are applying and have at leastan article published in a scientific journal or a collection of scientific conference proceedings before submitting an application;
- Have a master's degree in another major and a regular university degree in the same or similar major as the major applied for. In this case, the candidate must have at leastan article published in a scientific journal or a collection of scientific conference proceedings before submitting an applicationand must take the exam according to the regime for those who do not have a master's degree;
- Have a regular university degree in the right major,excellent or betterand have at leastan article published in a scientific journal or a collection of scientific conference proceedings before submitting the application;
- Have a regular university degree in the right major, with good grade and have at leastTwo articles published in scientific journals or collections of scientific conference proceedings before submitting the application.
Bachelor's and master's degrees granted by foreign educational institutions must be accompanied by a document of recognition from the Department of Testing and Educational Quality Assessment, Ministry of Education and Training.
The content of the articles must be consistent with the registered major and be published in scientific journals of Hanoi National University, prestigious national and international scientific journals or in the anthology of works (with review) of national and international scientific conferences that have been officially published.
c, Be recommended by at least two scientists with the title of professor, associate professor or doctorate of science or doctorate in the same major or research field, one of whom is a thesis supervisor. The recommendation letter must include comments and assessments on the candidate's capacity and qualities;
d, The research proposal essay (included in the HSCM) must clearly state the reasons for choosing the research field, the reasons for choosing the training institution, the research objectives, and the implementation plan during the training period. The essay must also state the experiences and professional knowledge that the candidate has prepared and the candidate's planned scientific activities after completing the doctoral training program;
e, Seniority conditions:
In addition to the majors: Vietnamese Literature, Folk Literature, Foreign Literature, Han-Nom, PhD candidates must have at least 1 year (for majors of Literary Theory, Psychology, International Relations) and 2 years (for other majors) of professional work in the field of the major registered for the exam (calculated from the date of signing the decision to recognize university graduation to the date of admission), except in the case of transfer students;
h, Be healthy enough to study.
i, Candidates (including transfer students) must have one of the following foreign language certificates or diplomas:
- A foreign language proficiency certificate equivalent to level 3/6 or higher according to the 6-level foreign language proficiency framework for Vietnam, within 2 years from the date of the foreign language certificate exam to the date of registration for admission and issued by an institution recognized by VNU. The Admissions Councils send foreign language certificates issued by foreign organizations of candidates to the University of Foreign Languages to have the authenticity of the certificate assessed before recognizing the equivalence;
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree obtained abroad;
- Bachelor's degree in foreign languages.
IV. Transferring doctoral training from bachelor's degree
Students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities who graduate full-time after June 2015, if qualified, will be considered for transfer to doctoral training in 2016.
The conditions for transfer consideration are as follows:
1. University degree major is consistent with the doctoral training major;
2. The total cumulative average score of the entire course and the bonus points for scientific research achievements must be from 3.7 or higher (the method of calculating the bonus points for scientific research achievements is specified in Clause 2, Article 28 of the Regulations on postgraduate training at Vietnam National University, Hanoi issued under Decision No. 1555/QD-VNU dated May 25, 2011, amended and supplemented under Decision No. 3050/QD-VNU dated September 17, 2012 of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi);
3. Meet the foreign language requirements for doctoral training admission at VNU at the time of application review;
4. Have the desire, submit valid application on time, accepted by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and VNU;
Students who graduate from full-time programs at universities not affiliated with Hanoi National University but have a reputation for the quality of training in their major can also be considered for transfer to doctoral training under the same conditions as students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
V. Priority policies in admission.
1. Candidates given priority in admission are the following:
2. Priority candidates must have all valid supporting documents as required by Hanoi National University and must submit them fully and on time with their application.
3. Priority level:Candidates who are in priority groups (including those who are in multiple priority groups) will have 10 points added to their exam results for the foreign language subject (on a 100-point scale) if they are not exempt from the foreign language exam and 1 point (on a 10-point scale) added to their basic exam or 15 points (on a 150-point scale) added to their competency assessment exam results.
VI. Entrance exam subjects
1. Basic subjects, fundamental subjects:

- The test content and format will be provided in the application form.
2. Foreign language: 1 of 5 languages: English, Russian, French, Chinese in multiple choice format.
*Candidates whose foreign language proficiency meets the foreign language exam requirements of the training unit and are in one of the following cases are exempt from the foreign language exam:

2. CV certified by the management agency or local authority of the place of residence (for those who do not work in state or non-state agencies, units or enterprises, or those who work in agencies but are not sent to study by the agency).
3. Certificate of good health for study from a general hospital (valid for 6 months from the date of application submission).
4. Certified copies of the following diplomas and certificates:
- University diploma and full university transcript with confirmation of classification by the competent authority (for candidates for master's or doctoral training but do not have a master's degree); master's degree and master's transcript (for candidates for doctoral training who already have a master's degree)
- Certificate of additional knowledge (if required to take additional knowledge);
- Recruitment or appointment decision (if a state official) or long-term labor contract and certificate of seniority.
- Notarized copy of legal documents on priority subjects (if any)
- Legal documents on foreign language proficiency (if any)
5. Letter of introduction from the head of the management agency for those working in state or non-state agencies, units or enterprises.
6. 02 envelopes issued by the School (when submitting the application) with the candidate's address and 04 3x4cm portrait photos.

8. Two letters of recommendation from two scientists with the scientific title of Professor, Associate Professor, or the degree of Doctor of Science, PhD in the same field, one of whom will be the thesis supervisor. The recommendation letter must include comments and assessments on the candidate's capacity and qualities (for candidates applying for doctoral training).

3. Master's and PhD entrance exams time:
- Entrance exam: September 10 and 11, 2016
- Admission: From September 12 to September 26, 2016
4. Exam results announcement time:Expected from October 10 to October 15, 2016
5. Appeal
- Receive appeal applications within 15 days from the date of announcement of exam results.
- Announcement of review results: Expected in early November 2016
* Note:No review of the Competency Assessment test (in master's admission) and the results of the professional profile assessment (in doctoral admission)
6. Admission scores and benchmark scores
6.1. Admission score:To be considered for admission, candidates must score 5 or higher (on a 10-point scale) in basic and fundamental subjects (for majors with competency assessment tests: the competency assessment test must score 75 points); score 50 or higher (on a 100-point scale) in Foreign Language if applying for a master's degree; have a professional profile assessed at 55 points or higher if applying for a doctoral degree.
6.2. Benchmark:Determined based on assigned training targets and by calculating the total test scores of subjects (except Foreign Language and basic subjects if it is a competency assessment test)/professional profile of each candidate from highest to lowest for each industry, major until the target is reached.

X. Admission fees(submit together with application)
1. Application issuance and processing fee: 100,000 VND (non-refundable if application is withdrawn)
2. Exam registration fee: 60,000 VND (non-refundable if application is withdrawn)
3. Exam fee:
3.1. Graduate: 120,000 VND/subject x 3 subjects
3.2. PhD students: + Bachelor's degree: 560,000 VND
+ Master's degree: 200,000 VND
