Specifically, the Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, and Clinical Psychology majors will pilot admissions based on competency assessment.
I. Eligibility for participation
Citizens of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam who meet the conditions stipulated in the Regulations on Postgraduate Training at Hanoi National University issued under Decision No. 4668/QD-DHQGHN dated December 10, 2014 by the Director of Hanoi National University and the Regulations on Postgraduate Training at Hanoi National University issued under Decision No. 1555/QD-DHQGHN dated May 25, 2011, amended and supplemented by Decision No. 3050/QD-DHQGHN dated September 17, 2012 by the Director of Hanoi National University.
II. Admission requirements for master's degree programs
Applicants for the master's program must meet all of the following conditions:
1. Regarding qualifications
a) Graduated from university with a major that is relevant or suitable to the field and specialization for which they are applying;
b) Graduated from a university with a major closely related to the field and specialization for which they are applying.have acquired additional knowledge.according to regulations;
c) Graduates from other university disciplines may apply to master's programs in Tourism; Office Management; Science and Technology Management; and Film and Television Theory, History, and Criticism after completing the following:have acquired additional knowledge.according to regulations;
d. University degrees awarded by foreign educational institutions must be accompanied by a recognition document from the Department of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education and Training.File: List of postgraduate admission majors
2. Regarding professional work experience:
a. Applicants must have at least one year of work experience in the field for which they are applying (calculated from the date of the university graduation certificate to the date of the exam), except for those with a university degree of "good" or higher, in a field directly related to or suitable for the registered major in the following majors: Journalism, Library and Information Science, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, World History, Vietnamese History; Office Management and Tourism.
b) Applicants must have at least two years of work experience in the field for which they are applying (calculated from the date of the university graduation certificate to the date of the exam) for the following categories:
+ Applicants with a university degree in other fields are eligible to apply for master's programs in Tourism; Office Management and Science & Technology Management.
3. Possess a clean personal record, not currently under disciplinary action at the level of a warning or higher, and not currently serving a criminal sentence, as confirmed by the human resources department of the current workplace or the local government where the applicant resides.
4. Be in good health to study.
III. Eligibility requirements for doctoral training.
Candidates applying to the standard doctoral program at Hanoi National University must meet all of the following conditions:
a) Has a clean personal record and is not currently under criminal investigation.
b) Meeting one of the following conditions regarding academic qualifications and published works:
- Possess a research-oriented master's degree or a master's thesis with a workload of 10 credits or more in the correct, relevant, or closely related field for which you are applying;
- Possess a master's degree with a practice-oriented specialization that is relevant, appropriate, or closely related to the field of study for which you are applying, and have at least...a published article in a scientific journal or conference proceedings before submitting the application.;
- Possess a master's degree in another field and a bachelor's degree from a regular university program in a field that is relevant or suitable to the field of study for which the applicant is applying. In this case, the applicant must have at least...a published article in a scientific journal or conference proceedings before submitting the application.and must take the exam under the regulations for those without a master's degree;
- Must have a full-time university degree in the relevant field.excellent or betterand there is at leastA paper published in a scientific journal or conference proceedings before submitting the application;
- Must have a full-time university degree in the relevant field, with a good grade and at leastTwo articles published in scientific journals or conference proceedings must be submitted before submitting the application.
Bachelor's and master's degrees awarded by foreign educational institutions must be accompanied by a recognition document from the Department of Educational Testing and Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education and Training.
The content of the articles must be relevant to the field of study for which the applicant is applying and must be published in scientific journals of Hanoi National University, reputable national or international scientific journals, or in peer-reviewed proceedings of officially published national or international scientific conferences.
c) At least two scientists with the title of professor, associate professor, or doctoral degree in the same field or research area must be recommended, with one of them acting as the thesis supervisor. The recommendation letters should include comments and assessments of the candidate's abilities and qualities;
d) The research proposal essay (included in the HSCM) should clearly state the reasons for choosing the research field, the reasons for choosing the training institution, the research objectives, and the implementation plan during the training period. The essay should also mention the experience and professional knowledge that the candidate has prepared and the planned scientific activities of the candidate after completing the doctoral training program;
e. Work experience requirements:
In addition to the majors: Vietnamese Literature, Folklore Literature, Foreign Literature, Sino-Vietnamese Studies, candidates for doctoral programs must have at least 1 year (for Literary Theory, Psychology, and International Relations majors) and 2 years (for other majors) of professional work experience in the field of their chosen major (calculated from the date of graduation to the date of enrollment), except in the case of transfer students;
h, Having sufficient health to study.
i. Applicants (including transfer students) must possess one of the following foreign language certificates or diplomas:
- A foreign language proficiency certificate equivalent to level 3/6 or higher according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam, valid for 2 years from the date of the foreign language exam to the date of application, and issued by an institution recognized by Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The Admissions Councils will send foreign language certificates issued by foreign organizations to the University of Foreign Languages for verification of authenticity before recognizing their equivalence;
- A university degree or master's degree obtained from a foreign institution;
- University degree in a foreign language.
IV. Transferring PhD students from undergraduates
Students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities who graduated from the regular program after June 2015, if eligible, will be considered for transfer to the doctoral training program in 2016.
The conditions for transition consideration are as follows:
1. The undergraduate degree must be in the same field as the doctoral program.
2. The cumulative GPA for the entire course and bonus points for scientific research achievements must be 3.7 or higher (the method for calculating bonus points for scientific research achievements is stipulated in Clause 2, Article 28 of the Regulations on Postgraduate Training at Hanoi National University, issued under Decision No. 1555/QD-DHQGHN dated May 25, 2011, amended and supplemented by Decision No. 3050/QD-DHQGHN dated September 17, 2012, of the Director of Hanoi National University);
3. Meet the foreign language requirements for doctoral admission at VNU at the time of application review;
4. Having the desire, submitting a valid application within the deadline, and being accepted by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and VNU Hanoi;
Graduates from full-time programs at universities outside of Hanoi National University, but with a reputable training quality in their field of study, may also be considered for doctoral program transfer under the same conditions as students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
V. Preferential policies in admissions.
1. Candidates who receive priority in admissions belong to the following categories:
2. Priority candidates must have all valid supporting documents as stipulated by Hanoi National University and must submit them fully and on time along with their application for the entrance examination.
3. Priority level:Candidates belonging to priority groups (including those belonging to multiple priority groups) will have 10 points added to their foreign language exam score (on a 100-point scale) if they are not exempt from the foreign language exam, and 1 point added to their basic subject exam score or 15 points added to their aptitude test score.
VI. Entrance Examination Subjects
1. Basic subjects, foundational subjects:

- The exam content and format will be provided in the application package.
2. Foreign language: One of five languages: English, Russian, French, or Chinese, in multiple-choice format.
*Candidates whose foreign language proficiency meets the foreign language exam requirements of the training institution and who fall into one of the following categories are exempt from the foreign language exam:
VII. Application/Selection Documentsincluding:
1. Application form for the entrance exam, using the template provided by Hanoi National University. Master's Exam Registration Form and NCS Exam Registration Form
2. A self-declaration of personal history certified by the managing agency or local government where the applicant resides (for individuals not working in state-owned or private agencies, units, or enterprises, or those working in agencies but not sent for training by their agency).
3. A health certificate for studying issued by a general hospital (valid for 6 months from the date of application).
4. Certified copies of the following diplomas and certificates, notarized by a state notary:
- University diploma and transcript with certified academic ranking from the competent authority (for candidates applying for master's or doctoral programs but without a master's degree); master's degree and transcript (for candidates applying for doctoral programs who already have a master's degree)
- Certificate of supplementary knowledge training (if required to attend supplementary courses);
- Recruitment or appointment decision (if applicable to government officials) or long-term employment contract and certificate of work experience.
- Certified copy of legal documents proving eligibility for priority consideration (if applicable)
- Legal documents proving foreign language proficiency (if any)
5. A letter of recommendation from the head of the managing agency for individuals currently working in state-owned or private agencies, units, or enterprises.
6. Two envelopes issued by the school (when submitting the application) with the candidate's address already written on them, and four 3x4cm portrait photos.
7. Research proposal essay, academic resume, and copies of published research papers (for doctoral candidates).Scientific resume file for doctoral candidatesandSample essay and letter of recommendation file for doctoral candidates.
8. Two letters of recommendation from two scientists holding the academic titles of Professor, Associate Professor, or Doctor of Science, Doctor of Philosophy in the same field, one of whom will serve as the dissertation supervisor. The letters of recommendation should include comments and assessments of the candidate's abilities and qualities (for doctoral candidates).

- Application period: From July 5th to August 5th, 2016 (excluding holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays).
- Accepting applications for doctoral program transfer: Before July 28, 2016
3. Master's and doctoral entrance exam schedules:
- Entrance exam: September 10th and 11th, 2016
- Admission period: From September 12th to September 26th, 2016
4. Time of announcement of exam results:Expected from October 10th to October 15th, 2016
5. Review
- Appeals will be accepted within 15 days of the exam results being announced.
- Announcement of review results: Expected in early November 2016
* Note:There will be no review of the Aptitude Test results (in master's admissions) and the results of the professional profile evaluation (in doctoral admissions).
6. Admission scores and cut-off scores
6.1. Admission score:To be considered for admission, candidates must achieve a score of 5 or higher (on a 10-point scale) in the basic and foundational subjects (for aptitude-based majors, the aptitude test score must be 75 points); achieve a score of 50 or higher (on a 100-point scale) in the Foreign Language subject if applying for a master's degree; and have a professional profile assessed at 55 points or higher if applying for a doctoral degree.
6.2. Benchmark scores:The selection process is determined based on the assigned training quota and by calculating the total exam scores (excluding foreign language and basic subjects if it's an aptitude test)/professional profile of each candidate, from highest to lowest, for each major and specialization until the quota is filled.
